Portugal and Colombia likely tussles for the top spot in Group play. Portugal’s loaded with veterans led by Cristiano Ronaldo. They likely go as far as the quarterfinals, but they need a tad more push in their ceiling to make their first semifinals since 2006. Colombia returns after missing the 2022 World Cup and look to compete for the knockout stage again. If they outplay Portugal, they could have a say in how far they go. Uzbekistan’s looking for their first knockout stage since 1986 as a Soviet Union team. They have the squad to power through as a third-place team, but there are questions if they have the athleticism and explosiveness to compete in the Group. DR Congo may have a lot working against them, but this is where they can start to build confidence.
