WEEK 10 CFB POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone! We went from three undefeated teams to just one remaining, and that team is…THE MINNESOTA VIKINGS!!!!??? Interesting. Well, both the Niners and the Chiefs suffered their first loss on the road. Kansas City could bounce back, but they definitely have glaring weaknesses that must be addressed by trade deadline. Same for the 49ers, but the receiver injuries piled up to where their only reliable pass catchers are running backs and tight ends. They do have a bye at the perfect time.

Meanwhile, more questionable officiating continues and makes me wonder what happened post-negotiation during the offseason. Especially after Cam Skattebo somehow got called for an old school football play by lowering his head for extra yardage. Despite that, the Giants won with JJ McCarthy in his starting debut with New York. New England and Chicago were probably the more entertaining primetime game of the week and maybe listed as one of the most entertaining games of the year. The Dolphins! They won their first game this season. They weren’t a bad winless team either and showed potential for the future. The Rams could find its footing again if they just run the ball more consistently like this past weekend against the Raiders. The NFC and AFC North continue to stay above .500 hoping to clear the postseason field, but that’s a long way away from being possible. As for the NFC South, Tampa blew out Carolina on the road while Atlanta upset the 49ers. Let’s not get too excited though because Carolina’s bad loss proves the NFC South’s still the NFC South. Speaking of AFC South, the Colts are having a fire sale and the Texans dig a hole deeper from a potential AFC South title opportunity.

It may not have been that chaotic past the Chiefs and Niners losses, but we’ll have some interesting rivalry matchups this upcoming weekend that’ll determine most teams’ fates of their season. There may be potential upsets along the way too. Hope you all have a great day! I’m down on my Niners, but I’m still “cautiously” optimistic.

TEAMS CONSIDERED

15) GREEN BAY PACKERS (4-3)

14) NEW YORK GIANTS (4-2-1)

13) DETROIT LIONS (4-2)

12) CINCINNATI BENGALS (4-2)

11) PITTSBURGH STEELERS (5-2)

10) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (4-3)

It looked like New England could’ve won a shootout against Chicago, but one interception was enough to lose them the game. Drake Maye was assaulting the defense with his arm and legs, but the rest of the offense wasn’t pacing with him. The running backs struggle and A.J. Brown got only three catches as their fourth leading receiver. The irony of the whole thing was that running back Rhamondre Stevenson was the leading receiver with 93 yards and a touchdown on his big play score.

9) CHICAGO BEARS (5-2)

The Bears won a shootout over the Patriots. One interception that ended in a score was enough to outpace New England from winning in their house. Luther Burden III had a big night four catches for over 100 yards while D’Andre Swift took over the run game while Kyle Monangai was out. Ben Johnson’s offense had one hell of a night.

8) CLEVELAND BROWNS (5-2)

There were some early struggles and miscues by Cleveland’s offense and Tennessee could’ve literally blown them out. If it wasn’t for Denzel Ward saving the Browns game with an early interception, it could’ve literally got out of hand. Cleveland eventually woke up in the second quarter and were able to escape Nashville with another clutch win by Deshaun Watson.

6) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (4-2)

6) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (5-1)

The Chiefs suffered probably their worst game of their career after facing the defending Super Bowl champ Seahawks. Kenneth Walker did absolutely nothing to get the offense moving. Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce couldn’t break through Seattle’s swarm defense while being swarmed by Seattle’s crowd noise. The lack of playmaking receivers definitely hurt their offensive production.

5) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (4-3)

Seattle didn’t care if Kenneth Walker was on the field. They knew their plan was to shut down Pat Mahomes and they did their job. Once the defense bogged down Walker from big play runs, they made a nightmare out of the Chiefs’ offense. Newly acquired running back Emanuel Wilson (former Packer) even outran Kenneth Walker that night. Of course, let’s not forget that Jaxon Smith Njigba carved through Kansas City’s good, but young secondary.

4) DENVER BRONCOS (5-2)

Hope the Bo Nix criticisms are dead because he ran a hell of a long way to the endzone to make a point. Seems like his ankle’s ok too after blazing past every defender possible. Denver’s defense kept Arizona in check on the scoring despite how competitive they were. The running backs may have created some run-by-committee identity again as long as Sean Payton realizes that it’s a big weapon in their offense.

3) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (6-1)

The Niners had the early lead before mistakes, miscues, and lack of outside weapons unraveled. There were a bevy of penalties on all sides of the ball along with fumbles, interceptions, and dropped passes that hurt the team. Christian McCaffrey ended up being the next key player hurt during his redzone run, but it looks like he’ll be ok. They suffer their first loss, but the bye week couldn’t have come at a better time.

2) BUFFALO BILLS (5-1)

BYE

1) MINNESOTA VIKINGS (6-0)

Minnesota’s offense is still below average, but Brian Flores’s defense continues to dominate and stifle their opponents. After allowing 22 points in Week 1, they haven’t allowed over 20 points since. Old man Harrison Smith also got his first interception of the season coming out of retirement. Minnesota’s the remaining undefeated team standing in the NFL, but can we talk about how they feel knowing JJ McCarthy actually played well in his win with New York?
