This group 100% belongs to Germany. However, the last couple of group outings made them questionable. More importantly, who is this squad outside of 17-year experienced, international goalkeeper Manuel Neuer? If they get ousted the third time, it’s going to get really loud for Deutschland. As for the other 3, 2nd place is most likely their ceiling, but Germany’s potential fallout could crack through for a first time Island team, an African squad, and a South American team. Curaçao has nothing to lose and should play loose and free. They’ll get World Cup experience that’ll go a long way. No expectations, no pressure. Ivory Coast has yet to make the knockout stage, but they could play spoiler in this entire thing. Germany’s not strong and Ecuador is winnable in the right situation. For Coast to snag a spot, they must capitalize on their weaknesses. Ecuador’s likely expected to advance, but they haven’t been to the knockout round since 2006. If they can leverage a tie against Germany at least, they’ll likely make it.
