The Chiefs had some bad luck while the Falcons and Browns unfortunate missed kick led to their downfall. Whoever thought Miami was in the right place prior to Week 1 must’ve been in a darkness retreat somewhere all offseason. The Steelers/Jets and Ravens/Bills had all the drama and excitement. Green Bay looks for real and Jayden Daniels and the Commanders picked up where they left off. The 49ers won a gutsy game, but it was a game where it shouldn’t have been close at all. Now they’re beat up and struggling on special teams again. The hype surrounding Denver and the Giants might rear its ugly head if the offense doesn’t clean things up. And do we have a quarterback who might be the best out of the 2024 class after last night!!!??? All that and more made what was the most exciting and unorthodox Week 1 football to return to. Good start!

For anyone that hasn’t seen that insane Isaac TeSlaa catch. Enjoy!

TEAMS CONSIDERED

T-15) NEW YORK JETS

T-15) DALLAS COWBOYS

14) ATLANTA FALCONS

13) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

12) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

11) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

10) GREEN BAY PACKERS

Green Bay came in with their hair on fire and loads of excitement and anticipation. Micah Parsons’ appearance in green and gold and Jordan showing plenty of “Love” by spreading the ball to 10 different pass catchers were all that helped them dominate Detroit.

9) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Kansas City’s offense just didn’t look right. Patrick Mahomes picked up where he left off by carrying them to about 300-plus total yards. What’s worse is that they’re down another pass catcher in Xavier Worthy. Defense tried about as much as they could while getting carved up by Justin Herbert and company. There’s plenty of exposure for Kansas City.

8) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

On the night of the 40th Anniversary of the 1985 Bears, JJ McCarthy struggled to get anything going for three quarters against his favorite team. In the fourth quarter, he somehow flipped the switch, locked in, and brought the team back with 21 unanswered in his first ever NFL game and played very confident too. If this is what we’re seeing in this kid, he and Minnesota have a bright future together. What a comeback!

7) PITTSBURGH STEELERS

In Aaron Rodgers’ return to the Meadowlands, he faced off against a former Steeler in Justin Fields. It was an unexpecting high-scoring affair between two good defenses. Despite that, Aaron Rodgers carved out four touchdowns with a comeback win thanks to Chris Boswell’s 60-yard kick to ensure their victory. That was a drama-filled matchup that I enjoyed very much.

6) LOS ANGELES CHARGERS

The Chargers finally didn’t pull a Chargering and Justin Herbert and the defense played one hell of a game in Brazil to defeat the Chiefs. Herbert cooked from start to finish and gave this organization optimism about their playoff chances. Jim Harbaugh and the staff should be really proud of where this team’s going this season.

5) LOS ANGELES RAMS

It was gritty, it was gutsy, it was ugly, and it was defensive. Houston’s defense set the tone to make life complicated for Matt Stafford. That didn’t stop him from going to his trustworthy receiver in bloodied-up Puka Nacua and Davante Adams. Stafford and Williams accounted for LA’s two important touchdowns to hold on and win.

4) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Again, the Bucs and Falcons were in a thrilling matchup. Baker was up against Michael Penix this time, who also had a great game against him. Baker came through and it took YoungHoe Koo’s missed field goal to seal it. The guy to mention is rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka. He had a great game with two touchdown catches. Chris Godwin might not be there for much longer.

3) BALTIMORE RAVENS

It looked like Baltimore had this game in the bag. Derrick Henry ran all over the Bills to what could’ve been a record-setting night, Lamar Jackson carved them left and right, and Zay Flowers had a huge night with nearly 150 yards receiving. Unfortunately, all that collapsed. Derrick Henry’s rare fumble loss and Zay Flowers illegal motion were one of the few errors that were costly at the end. Ravens played a near great game, but they must close if they want to make a deep playoff run.

2) BUFFALO BILLS

After a messy three and a half quarters of football, Josh Allen and the gang made a big comeback run in the last seven minutes of the game. An ugly, unintended touchdown throw to Keon Coleman, a fumble recovery to follow up with another touchdown, and then a couple of huge passes leading to a walk off field goal were all it took to pull off Buffalo’s insane comeback win.

1) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Should I call the Philly/Dallas game the “Spit Game”? It was that vibe after Dak initiated a confrontation with Jalen Carter. Philly did alright. Hurts did well and seemed calm and cool all game. The only downside was AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith not getting many touches, but they faced a good Cowboys secondary that returned from injury. Philly’s in a good spot but injury is something to watch for and Adoree’ Jackson must bounce back after a subpar performance.

  1. I’m absolutely SHOCKED you ranked the Niners so low. That is so not “on-brand” for S.F. fans. 🙂
