WEEK 7 CFB POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone!!!??? Tis the month to be excited, surprised, shocked, and speechless all at the same time when upsets happen. It definitely happened for me when my Sooners upset #1 Texas for the first time in program history of this rivalry. I was on pins and needles the entire game not sure what would happen, but I hoped and ate my own words about Brent Venables, the O.C., etc. I ate those words with satisfactory along with my steak pretending it was Bevo as my trophy dinner. That “served” as an example of why the month of October shouldn’t be trifled with. We already had a Top 10 upset last weekend. There was more this past weekend!

Florida went down again along with Pitt, Oregon, Texas, LSU, and Alabama (you may debate if the Bama loss was an upset or not). We’re in the middle of October and more upsets lurk as we have some big-time upcoming matchups this weekend. I’m attending the BYU/Notre Dame game and am very excited about the vibes taking place between Mormons and Catholics and fans outside of those religions. It’s a holy come-together type of matchup that makes me think this will be filled with excitement and intensity. I will be sure to have my compilation videos made asap to post on my website, so stay tuned. Bear with me as I probably won’t have the next posts done until maybe a day late or so after I return home. Have a great day y’all and perform whatever rituals necessary to stave off anymore upsets that may come about…MUAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!! ☠️😈

12) JAMES MADISON (6-0) [G6]

The Dukes escaped a very persistent Georgia Southern squad. They had a 10-point lead before the Eagles fought back with big play after big play after big play on their last touchdown and one last possession to potentially force overtime. Fortunately, Georgia Southern missed the game-tying field goal and JMU avoids the upset. They are 6-0 once again and looking to compete for a CFP spot as the highest Group of 6 team this time.

11) ALABAMA (5-1)

Something was amiss on a few calls and lack thereof by the officials. The lack of adding a few seconds back on the clock for Bama before the last couple of plays prior to halftime. Then, the suspecting no pass interference call on Georgia towards the end of the game left Kalen DeBoer so pissed off. Either way, Bama was brutally beaten at the end against Georgia at home for the 1st time since 2007. Keelon Russell was sacked four times, and Alabama lost the rushing battle to Georgia that led to the loss.

10) UCLA (5-0)

This was by far the ugliest game to ever watch between UCLA and Oregon. There was turnover after turnover after turnover. UCLA enforced seven of them, including two that eventually led Oregon QB Dylan Raiola to the bench and potentially his demise as a starting quarterback and his draft stock. Nico Iamaleava didn’t play that well, but he did a bit to get the Bruins their first score before he got injured. Running backs Wayne Knight and Anthony Woods took over the game along with the defense to punish Oregon in their house. This is UCLA’s first win at Autzen since 2004.

9) OLE MISS (4-1)

Ole Miss terminated Vanderbilt from anymore conversations about them being better than last season. Ole Miss did their job coming off a bye and will be ready for a big home matchup against a hot Missouri team. Most importantly, Trinidad Chambliss faces former teammate Austin Simmons who is playing healthy and well.

8) TEXAS (4-1)

Texas finally meets their demise in the hands of Boomer Sooner. They had Oklahoma by the throat in the first half, but mistakes and miscues eventually cost them in all facets of the game. OU’s offense, defense, and even special teams got the best of them. Here are two things that cost Texas the win: a missed field goal and a late interception that led to Oklahoma’s game-winning field goal. The Longhorns must bounce back to stay alive for the SEC title race.

7) MISSOURI (5-1)

Austin Simmons against Texas A&M wasn’t great, but Jamal Roberts assured him that he doesn’t need to carry the offense. Instead, Roberts carried the load with 34 of them for 222 yards and two touchdowns. He may have proven that he can be the #1 option at running back at the next level and NFL scouts by now must’ve taken notice to him.

6) INDIANA (6-0)

It seemed like Indiana was in dire straits against Nebraska. The Huskers outpassed them, outran them, outcarried them, and outplayed them. But just like last year against Penn State, Indiana knew how to overcome it. It wasn’t Charlie Becker that saved Indiana this time, it was Nick Marsh who got two huge catching touchdowns to bring Indiana back from the brink to win in dramatic fashion. Indiana now can focus on Ohio State.

5) BYU (5-0)

The Iowa State matchup was the game that BYU didn’t want to overlook. The Cyclones came out attacking early, giving BYU so much to deal with and overcome. The defense eventually caused running back Aiden Flora to slow down after getting injured before focusing their attention on quarterback Jaylen Raynor. Without running back LJ Martin, Bear Bachmeier had to carry the team to victory with his arm and legs. BYU stays undefeated just in time for a gauntlet matchup with Notre Dame.

4) NOTRE DAME (6-0)

Notre Dame worked Stanford pretty easily as a warmup matchup before their gauntlet matchup with BYU.

3) MIAMI (5-0)

BYE

2) OHIO STATE (5-1)

Ohio State worked over Maryland pretty easily and kept quarterback Malik Washington and company from trying to cook inside The Shoe. Ohio State didn’t overlook their opponent to Indiana and now have every intention to prepare for their rematch with them from the Big Ten championship.

1) GEORGIA (6-0)

After losing eight straight regular season meetings to Alabama, they finally get a win since 2007, which ironically was the same year in Tuscaloosa too. Georgia looked like the better team from start to finish. They also ensured that win by outrushing Alabama 206-161, which is the recipe to win this gauntlet matchup. Gunner Stockton played tough and made some really good throws against Bama’s secondary while keeping Keelon Russell contained from making up any big impactful plays to save Alabama for the win.

WHO IMPRESSED? 👏🏾

OKLAHOMA

After three and a half games, Oklahoma’s offense finally had an answer and played a different kind of offense. They also won in all 3 phases to stave off former #1 Texas. Huge win for Sooner Nation!

KENTUCKY

Kentucky played confident football against LSU from start to finish. They outplayed them at the end of overtime and could be the team to compete for a CFP if they continue their run.

LOUSIANA TECH

I doubt anyone heard about Lousiana Tech, but they pulled off a 4th quarter comeback with 11 minutes left being down 31-19. Quarterback Blake Baker and company played by far their best football to comeback and hold off Louisiana.

WHO DISAPPOINTED?🙅🏾‍♂️

OREGON

No Dante Moore really hurt them and Dylan Raiola played like his Nebraska self and multiple self-inflicting mistakes cost them. It went from potentially having the best returning roster with the best quarterback depth, to a potential crash-and-burn disappointing season.

FLORIDA

It’s sad to say that Florida’s 15 minutes (or 1 week of fame) is finally over. After scoring over 40 points in the first four games of the season, they haven’t even touched 20 points in the last two.

WHO I’M UNSURE OF? 🤔

TEXAS

(Time to be unbiased) I saw some good and potential things from Arch Manning and the offense, but I’m also disappointed in the mistakes he is making. The Manning name is too much of a hype when he hasn’t proven that he’s like his uncles. If people haven’t seen it already, his skills resemble more of his grandfather. Sark either must do a better job with Manning’s ability or be ready to miss the postseason again.
