WEEK 6 CFB POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone! I don’t know what’s worse: too many penalties in one weekend, refs mouthing off against players and coaches, or star player and key player injuries. Otherwise, we have 3 undefeated teams left (Chiefs, Niners, and Vikings???) and 5 winless teams left (Dolphins, Texans, Chargers, Titans, and Bucs). In the middle are teams either seemingly legit or teams that have no business being in the fray when they’re actually bad. We see something in the Jags, Raiders, Cowboys, Bears, Panthers, Bills, Broncos, and Seahawks. As for the rest, we’re either trying to get a clearer picture and others that are competing but are just bad.

How the Dolphins stayed with the Vikings makes no sense. The Chargers and Texans still riding without a win is baffling since both are very identical. However, the Texans have a better chance to get a win. The AFC North has everyone at or above .500. The AFC East seems a bit questionable even though the Bills are at the top. If the Bills continue to be exposed in every game moving forward, the Patriots could eventually take the division again. The Raiders proved to be competitive this season. The Falcons and Panthers may find themselves “confident enough” to take the NFC South division. The Bears could really make a run with all the quarterbacks. The NFC West could have 3 teams in the postseason again. The Eagles could be a bad team this season with Sirianni feeling the heat from his own city. And, if the “substation theory” is really for real for real, then the NFL owns it too because every dang team has a key player injured, not just the Niners dammit!

Anyway, since I didn’t have the time to post my underrated and overrated teams before the season after being so busy in August and early September, here’s my three underrated teams and three overrated teams. A couple may or may not work out, but I feel these teams earned their way on my list so far. Have a great day everyone!

UNDERRATED

RAIDERS

SAINTS

TITANS

OVERRATED

RAVENS

EAGLES

BUCCANEERS

TEAMS CONSIDERED

15) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (2-2)

14) CLEVELAND BROWNS (3-1)

13) DALLAS COWBOYS (2-2)

12) BALTIMORE RAVENS (3-1)

11) NEW YORK GIANTS (3-1)

10) LOS ANGELES RAMS (2-2)

The Rams offense struggled throughout the game and Stafford was getting a bit beat up. But when the chips were down in Philly, they found a way thanks to the defense keeping them alive. Matt Stafford manned through the pressure and Kyren Williams killed them in the end. LA’s surviving every way they possibly can.

9) DENVER BRONCOS (2-2)

Denver’s defense bogged down Brock Purdy and company for what had to be an eternity. Next to Seattle, Denver did it for the majority of the game until the second half. Slowly, but surely the dam broke and the waters came pouring as George Kittle ran past the entire squad. What’s worse is that Patrick Surtain II got hurt during the game. No clue how long he’s out, but that hurts their defense for a bit.

8) LAS VEGAS RAIDERS (3-1)

The Raiders fought very hard against Kansas City from start to finish and had opportunities to take control. Unfortunately, a mishap on special teams and a game-sealing interception cost them the win. Kirk Cousins played his ass off and the gang came together to challenge the Chiefs defense with confidence. This team proved that they will compete against just about anybody in the league, even the Chiefs.

7) BUFFALO BILLS (3-1)

Despite how much they affected Drake Maye with 3 fumbles and an interception, that still didn’t stop him from running and passing all over. Their suspected defense was finally exposed, and it couldn’t have been more costly than that. What’s worse is that even with everything the offense did, Josh Allen still threw a bad pick that ended the game. They not only lost their first game of the season, but they also lost it in the hands of New England in their new stadium.

6) CHICAGO BEARS (3-1)

Tyson Bagent started and managed the game as best as he could. Running back Kyle Monangai had a huge day with 146 rushing yards and two touchdowns on 30 carries! Rome Odunze, Luther Burden III, and Colston Loveland turned in a good day as the top three pass catchers for the offense. Defense also did a great job containing the offense after they had no Breece Hall during the game.

5) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-1)

Seattle may have allowed the Chargers to come within seven points of a potential comeback, but they pulverized Justin Herbert during the game. They sacked him four times, hit him a few more times during, picked him off twice, and forced a fumble on him and Derius Davis. Sam Darnold had his share of struggles but him and newly acquired back Emanuel Wilson found a way past LA’s defense to score 30 points.

4) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (3-1)

Jacksonville’s defense received the most credit. They pressured Joe Burrow and took away most of his opportunities for a comeback. They sacked him, affected his throws including nabbing two interceptions, and forced a fumble on him. They also sent their top two receivers Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to the tent with injuries which really limited Burrow. Jacksonville’s defense was one heck of a group this week.

3) MINNESOTA VIKINGS (4-0)

Minnesota may have won, but it wasn’t easy. They didn’t score one single touchdown against the Dolphins (of all teams!), but Will Reichard carried this team to victory. We’ve seen this before when the Commanders did it to the Giants a few years back. Defense did their job, and Aaron Jones and TJ Hockenson had a great day. However, they got lucky that Chris Bell stepped out of bounds when he thought he had a long touchdown reception run. That was the difference of the entire game.

2) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS (4-0)

Kansas City was in a dogfight with Kirk Cousins, Maxximum Crosby and company from start to finish, but they won the battle. Patrick Mahomes played alright, but the spotlight was on Kenneth Walker. He dominated the ground game for 177 yards and two touchdowns. Tyquan Thornton had a massive day in the air with 111 yards and two touchdowns. It looked like he was going to be the main target after Rashee Rice went down, but he’s also out with a nasty ankle injury and may be done for a while. If this continues, Mahomes may be targeting Kelce and the tight ends a lot more often.

1) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (4-0)

49ers took a few more casualties on the field, but Mike Evans surprisingly handled himself and had a good day. Defense did a great job containing Bo Nix and company for most of the game while Brock Purdy and company eventually broke through Denver’s defense with a touchdown pass to George Kittle to seal the game. Kittle and Samuel turned in a good day on a pretty dang good and resilient offense.
