What’s up everyone! We are closing in on Week 0 of college football. If there are any FCS heads out there, Week 1 (I think) of FCS college football is back too. I got underway with some of my information and am still in the process of finishing some more college football information to post. My CFP Predictions that will be out next week but enjoy an early look at my true power rankings.

Take them for what it is, but I do my best to rank them for how I see things on the field. I base it on performance over stats and biasness (even if I’m a Sooners fan and despite putting Boise and Texas up there) and have fun with it as best as I could. Not everyone will agree, but I do love seeing different people’s weekly rankings. I plan to do it again weekly up until the conclusion of the conference championship. Be on the lookout for them and I’ll be sure to have them out there even if I’m in a couple of different states this season.

12) BOISE STATE [G6]

Just the second time in 3 seasons, there are no ranked Group of 6 teams in the Top 25. Boise State’s still the best of the Group of 6 teams to start the preseason (for now…) and have a quality roster return to compete in the New Pac-12. If none are aware, they are now in their fourth different conference and a lot of us begged for their Pac-12 arrival forever. Unfortunately, it wasn’t what we expected but they’re still in that conference. The September schedule’s a bit tough and competitive, but the conference schedule will test their mettle and see if they can dominate.

11) BYU

I had four other teams considered at 11, but BYU was a strong consideration because of the number of players returning along with head coach Kilani Sitake, who chose Crumbl cookies over Penn State. Backfield demons Bear Bachmeier and LJ Martin are back along with linebacker Isaiah Glasker to wreak havoc in the Big 12 again. They luckily won’t run into Texas Tech until likely the Big 12 championship. They’ll likely make a run through the conference as long as they avoid traps and don’t get outplayed by Utah in Salt Lake City.

10) TEXAS TECH

The Red Raiders were really high on a CFP return and a National Championship opportunity. That may have went out the window after the Brendan Sorsby gambling problem. Now, they must hope Will Hammond will be ready for Week 1 or at least before the Houston showdown. If not, Tulsa transfer Kirk Francis or redshirt freshman Lloyd Jones III will compete for the Week 1 start until Hammond’s healthy. I also read that former Florida State and Boston College quarterback Tommy Castellanos is coming to Tech after not getting an NFL opportunity. I’m unsure what’ll happen, but let’s just pretend he’s not available for right now.

9) OKLAHOMA

The Sooners could be ready for a CFP return and a potential National Championship run. The only thing holding them back is the second toughest schedule in the nation (as of right now), the rushing production, and the offensive line. If those last two can be resolved by the Michigan game and SEC play, we could be looking at a very dangerous team.

8) OLE MISS

Despite the loss of Lane Kiffin and a few key players that either transferred or moved to the NFL (or moved back from the NFL), Ole Miss has by far the best quarterback/running back duo in the country. Trinidad Chambliss and Kewan Lacy lead the offense while the defense should still be about as good as last season’s while Pete Golding’s still overseeing that side. The question is the receiving room and connecting with Chambliss.

7) TEXAS

I hate putting them ahead of Oklahoma at all. They still suck Horns Down in my eyes, but they’re there at 7 because of high expectations this season and majority of key players, talent, and experience all mixed in. They expect Arch Manning to play like a Heisman quarterback. They brought in Cam Coleman from Auburn to go alongside Ryan Wingo. Texas also brought in Will Muschamp to make the defense a problem this season. However, the run game, the offensive line, and expectations are circling Austin, and Texas better be ready to deal with all of it. See y’all in October!!! Boomer Sooner!!!

6) GEORGIA

The undoubted runners of the SEC should likely rinse and repeat like the last two seasons, but they hope to actually win a CFP game this time. They return the Dawg in Gunner Stockton, but he’ll need so much help from the rest of his offense. The run game’s the strength, but receivers and a re-made offensive line will need to come together by the Oklahoma matchup. Defense is still stacked full of talent, but the pass defense dealt a big blow last season and must improve to be a problem again. Can they also beat Alabama in the regular season for once?

5) INDIANA

The National Champion Hoosiers may have lost so much to the NFL, but they also replaced the same amount through the portal while retaining contributors and a few starters from a championship run. They lost Fernando Mendoza but gained Josh Hoover. They lost their top two receivers but gained Nick Marsh while still retaining Charlie Becker. Their defense lost a leader at the MIKE linebacker spot but still retain Isaiah Jones. Curt Cignetti and company did a great job with offseason replacements and should still be in line for a CFP spot at least.

4) MIAMI

Do we expect a repeat performance by Miami? When you bring in two-time conference championship contender on two different teams in Duke transfer Darian Mensah, his co-hort Cooper Barkate, one of the top offensive tackle recruits in Jackson Cantwell, and retain some of their defensive players that impacted the game during the CFP run, Miami should be alright. However, is moving on without Akheem Mesidor and Reuben Bain Jr. (22 sacks combined) and going through 3 to 4 new offensive line affect their playoff return???

3) NOTRE DAME

After missing out on the CFP because of Miami (and Alabama. Yeah, I said it. That’s the real reason!), they might be on a revenge tour and about to blow this whole nation up. We can question their weak schedule, but they have BYU, Miami, and SMU that could slingshot their way to more than just the CFP. They have a great defense, their run game should be fine despite losing Price and Love to the NFL (two 1st rounders), and the receiving corps should finally take a step that the Irish were missing for what could’ve been an eternity. CJ Carr’s expected to compete at a Heisman level too. If they can avoid the first 2-week slip-up, they have a chance as long as Marcus Freeman’s the coach.

2) OHIO STATE

Ohio State’s #1 in the preseason polls, but they’re #2 on my power rankings. They return the majority of their players while reloading and retooling in some positions. Julian Sayin, Bo Jackson, and Jeremiah Smith lead the offense and could be potentially one of the best this season along with some newcomers to be an immediate impact. Defense is going through a lot of replacements but should still be one of the best under Matt Patricia. Of those making appearances are Beau Atkinson, Christian Alliegro (Wisconsin), Earl Little (Florida St), and Terry Moore (Duke). If the offensive line can improve down the stretch unlike the last two against National Champ’s 1 and 2 in Indiana and Miami, they could be right back in the National Championship conversation.

1) OREGON

Oregon has the majority of their roster back to make a CFP run. The schedule presents a challenge, but they have the pieces to combat them. Dante Moore must play better in primetime games, the receivers must stay healthy, and the kicking game will be a question going into this season. They lost to two eventual National Champions in the 12-team playoff era, but they took a step with a CFP win last season. Is this the season while staving off anymore eventual 2026-2027 National Champs?
