BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone! I took a class for Sports Management Worldwide last year, and it was a cool learning experience. I’m posting last year’s assignment referring back to the Bengals’ 2025 offseason with Trey Hendrickson’s contract situation and disgruntlement of the organization. My assignment topic was called the Three-Player Plan Cap Space Situation.

This strategy was a way to see how a team can improve their cap situation and what moves must be made for the organization to restructure their roster. I did mine on the Bengals with Trey Hendrickson’s situation from last season. My opinion was to move him to a different team in order to rebuild properly while they were re-signing players to a bigger contract. My assignment was all based on opinion. Now that Trey is a free agent, my assignment partially had some bearing, but the Bengals could’ve handled the situation better. Will see if Trey can still produce at a high level on a new team if and when he gets signed. For now, give this post a read and hope you enjoy. You may have your own opinion on this and know how the Bengals could’ve better handled this. Thank you and have a great day!

Bengals Three-Player Plan Cap Space Situation

“With the Bengals current contract situation with Trey Hendrickson and him seeking a trade, the decision would be to trade him for draft capital and makeover the front four. Since he produced 17.5 sacks in back-to-back seasons, teams out there would covet him, which is easy pickings for the Bengals. However, in those back-to-back seasons where Trey had a monster sack performance, the Bengals haven’t seen the postseason. It’s not worth spending a lot of money on a pass rusher in his 30s not knowing what the future will look like for him. If he holds out any longer through OTAs and training camp, the possibility of an injury increases as football season gets closer. I rather not risk it and cost them cap space, potential prospects, and future free agents.”

“Since Al Golden’s the new defensive coordinator and they’re gearing towards a 4-3 and/or 4-2 nickel defense, signing Matt Judon to a 2-year deal isn’t a bad idea while figuring out Shemar Stewart’s signing situation. With that being an issue, getting Judon on the roster would be the way to go. Their defense will also be re-shaped through free agency and the draft in 2026 and beyond with picks they receive from the Hendrickson trade.”

“They may have re-signed both Ja’Marr Chase and Tee Higgins to a massive contract extension, but I would consider re-signing Andrei Iosivas to a small contract extension in the future as a safety net since he’s another viable option.”

“Cincinnati has a good offense and an elite quarterback with two great receivers, but their defense really needs fixing. I know Trey Hendrickson’s a huge deal to the team, but I’m just not sure if re-signing him while being disgruntled and unavailable would fix everything. As good as Cincy is with Joe Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase at the helm, the Bengals can’t continue outplaying teams by scoring 30 to 40 points every game.”

  2. If it’s true, Dallas is loading up for a return. Better than Philly, but I’m still here for the laughs in Arlington. A couple of Bengals fans are tired of them. It’s definitely a joke.
