BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

Most comebacks, thrillers, and clutches have all came in one package on this Week 5 of football. Titans and the Saints finally earned their first win of the season. Cam Ward definitely has a future, and the Saints are not as bad as their record states (and I meant that!). The Bucs/Seahawks shootout was a classic for dang sure. Alongside the Seahawks, the Cardinals, the Ravens, and the Eagles got cooked. Drake Maye showed up against the Super Bowl aspiration Bills and Duval County is celebrating after finally defeating the Chiefs for the first time in 2009. This was one of the craziest weekends of NFL football, that’s it’s unlikely that this upcoming weekend will top it…maybe. Welcome to Red October Football!!!

Quick note: For the first time in CJ Stroud’s career, the Houston Texans finally score their first offensive touchdown against the Baltimore Ravens. They never scored and offensive touchdown in their first two previous meetings with them except on a defensive play. Just wanted to let anyone know who’s unaware of this.

TEAMS CONSIDERED

15) DALLAS COWBOYS (2-2-1)

14) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS (3-2)

13) NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS (3-2)

12) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS (4-1)

11) DENVER BRONCOS (3-2)

10) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS (4-1)

Jacksonville does it again with turnovers and finding ways to come back and win. Trevor Lawrence slipping and falling to only still score a touchdown…was scripted. It was all planned out since they practiced this during the week prior (no they didn’t, but it’s a nice thought and still a crazy finish to the drive). The Jaguars…might actually be a good team. As crazy as it sounds, winning with their defense and Trevor Lawrence and company coming in clutch against Kansas City says that coach Liam Coen may have done something positive for the team.

9) PITTSBURGH STEELERS (3-1)

BYE

8) GREEN BAY PACKERS (2-1-1)

BYE

7) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS (3-2)

Seattle got into a shootout with Tampa. This was so high-scoring oriented that their improved defense collapsed in the wake of it despite Tampa not having Mike Evans nor Bucky Irving. Baker Mayfield and Emeka Egbuka weren’t the only QB-WR duo in this high-scoring affair. Sam Darnold (341 pass yards, 4 TDs) and Jaxon Smith Njigba (8 rec., 132 yards, 1 TD) for had a huge day too. Unfortunately, Darnold’s one and only interception ended in a loss to Tampa’s walkoff field goal win. It’s tough to swallow but they’ll move on and continue competing.

6) LOS ANGELES RAMS (3-2)

LA lost a very tough rivalry battle. It wasn’t that they were playing inconsistent. They were outplayed in time of possession, their running back had critical drops, a fumble loss towards the endzone, and got stopped on the final play of the game. Add in a missed field goal and a blocked extra point that changed the entirety of LA’s outcome…again! Rams are still good as their defense locked in since mid-third quarter, Matt Stafford was surgical, and Puka Nacua minced meat the young Niners secondary. It hurts, but this might motivate them to play at a high level the rest of the way.

5) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES (4-1)

MADDEN CURSE 2025: SAQUON BARKLEY

Plenty could be said about the loss that took place in Philly. The offensive line struggling, Jalen Hurts taking six sacks, Saquon Barkley getting more receiving production than rushing, AJ Brown putting in an ok performance despite his post of his discontent over the lack of catches, Philly allowing 18 points in the fourth after leading 17-3 in three quarters, and maybe Zack Baun making the biggest and dumbest error that basically cost Philly an opportunity to come back with enough time to win. All of this and that tells that Philly had some flaws and mistakes this past weekend. Not good.

4) BUFFALO BILLS (4-1)

Buffalo was in a war against New England. I never expected a loss to be in Buffalo, but Mike Vrabel had those young boys ready to go and Buffalo took punch, after punch, after punch from them. It definitely came down to the very end of the game, but New England stole that from them and handed them their first loss of the season. Buffalo’s defense struggled down the stretch. If that’s not addressed as the season progresses, they could be in serious trouble despite being Super Bowl contenders.

3) DETROIT LIONS (4-1)

Detroit had Cincinnati dead in the water very early. Jared Goff and company torched Cincinnati while the defense terrorized them for a while. However, they somehow let Cincinnati back in the game thanks to Ja’Marr Chase’s big plays for scores. Detroit still pulled it off and are looking more and more like their new selves again as their season carries on.

2) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS (4-1)

One of the better games with plenty of shootouts, drama, and crazy ass plays that sometimes made no sense. I’m sounding like a broken record for the fourth game in five weeks, but Tampa had their backs against the wall once again to only pull it off…once again. Whatever Baker Mayfield and company learned from the last two seasons together with close losses, they turned them into four wins this season. I think we can call them the Cardiac Buccaneers! Oh…and rookie receiver Emeka Egbuka with all seven targets for seven catches, 163 rec. yards and a touchdown. This kid’s insane! The fact they did it without Mike Evans and Bucky Irving truly says something about this team.

1) INDIANAPOLIS COLTS (4-1)

Indianapolis goes in and dismantles the Raiders like no one’s business. Jonathan Taylor scored three rushing touchdowns and converted on a two-point play. It wasn’t much to expect playing against Vegas, but they dominated that game from start to finish.
