College football continues to be exciting. After some more thrilling endings and teams standing out against tough opponents, we’re seeing more potential competition getting fierce as they enter into conference play. This upcoming weekend starts with some juggernaut matchups. Georgia/Alabama and Oregon/Penn State will be on at the same time at 4:30pm PT/7:30pm ET as Marquee Matchups of the weekend. If you’re a college football fan, I would delay afternoon/evening plans for these two games. I cannot wait to watch them both!!!
12) MEMPHIS (4-0)

Memphis won a decisive dogfight with an SEC team in Arkansas. Arkansas had multiple chances to take the lead and end it, but they failed on another fumble on their last possession. Quarterback Brenden Lewis and company played well at home against tough competition. They now must deal with an upgraded AAC to stay undefeated.
11) TEXAS TECH (4-0)

Texas Tech won a tough defensive battle at Salt Lake City and eventually broke the dam off Utah’s defense. They were the better team from the jump. However, quarterback Behren Morton was injured during the game, and backup Will Hammond took care of business with ease. Tech may look like one of the best teams with the money they invested into their program.
10) GEORGIA TECH (4-0)

Georgia Tech clobbered non-Power 4 doormat Temple with Haynes King totaling 268 yards and two passing touchdowns. They travel to Wake Forest before their bye week.
9) GEORGIA (3-0)

BYE WEEK
8) FLORIDA STATE (3-0)

Florida State did their job against Kent State. Castellanos didn’t run as much but it was nice seeing Gavin Sawchuk and Sam Singleton Jr. get the bulk of the rushing yards. They totaled for 183 and four touchdowns. Dynamic receiver Micahi Danzy totaled for 176 all-purpose yards and should be a key part of the offense in ACC play.
7) TEXAS (3-1)

Arch Manning crushed Sam Houston with five total touchdowns with a little taunt as well. Maybe Texas fans are done booing Arch (Or not. Please continue so he transfers elsewhere lol). Texas enters their bye before traveling to Florida. We’ll find out if the offense is better prepared for that game.
6) INDIANA (4-0)

Indiana was underestimated, and coach Curt Cignetti loves it. He’s not satisfied but he must’ve loved quarterback Fernando Mendoza carving Illinois’ defense for 267 pass yards and five touchdowns while completing 91.3 percent for a 260.6 QBR. Defense also put them to shame with seven sacks while allowing only two total rushing yards. TWO!!!! Is Indiana forreal for real now??? Maybe!
5) PENN STATE (3-0)

BYE WEEK
4) OREGON (4-0)

BYE WEEK
3) MIAMI (4-0)

Miami had early advantage on Florida before struggling for a while. Facing their defense with rain mixed in wasn’t a nice combo, but it didn’t stop their Miami’s defense from making life heck for their in-state rival. They were a nightmare by holding Florida to 141 yards total and sacking DJ Lagway four times to make a statement. The Canes have a bye before their gauntlet matchup with Florida State next month.
2) LSU (4-0)

It seems like LSU’s offense finally woke up and played some ball. Even if it was against SE Louisiana, scoring 56 against a non-FBS opponent still means something. The Tigers should be ready for a potential shootout against motivated Ole Miss that has a limitless quarterback roster.
1) OHIO STATE (3-0)

HONORABLE MENTION
WILL HAMMOND
Hammond stepped in for Behren Morton after taking a brutal shot. I looked at Hammond in the huddle communicating with his linemen before taking his first snap and sensed how it would play out. In relief for Morton around the third quarter, Hammond threw 169 yards for two touchdowns while rushing for 61 yards. He literally helped collapse Utah’s stingy defense for 24 unanswered points in the fourth quarter. The future is bright for Hammond after Morton’s done this season.
TULSA
This is a personal honorable mention because Tulsa took care of their in-state rival. That makes me and Sooner Nation very happy that the loss pretty much spells the end of Mike Gundy’s tenure after this season. I could go into roasting the Pokes, but it’s all about Tulsa. Their backup quarterback Baylor Hayes (interesting 1st name in this game) did a great job helping Tulsa get the points as early as possible while their defense held Ok State to three points until the fourth quarter. Much appreciated by the Golden Hurricanes for their success on Friday!
OKLAHOMA’S DEFENSE
Speaking of Oklahoma, holy this defense looks legit. They held Auburn down as long as possible until R Mason Thomas returned from his first half suspension for targeting against Temple. While they have yet to force a turnover this season, their defense made impactful plays in Auburn’s backfield, sacked Jackson Arnold a record-setting 10 times, and even clinched the win with a sack-and-safety play by none other than Thomas himself. What’s been proven is that Oklahoma has a legit defense. Now, if they can just get that one turnover…
