What’s up everyone?
Here’s my final College Football Power Rankings of the season. It was a bit of an ebb and flow trying to figure the whole thing out. I did the best I could based on what I watched and stayed up to date with. I had fun and it gave me some idea of what to do for next season. To everyone who took the time to skim through my stuff, I can’t thank you enough. I still treat this as a hobby and practice, but I love doing information on stuff like this. You all have a great day!
12) ARIZONA STATE

Cam Skattebo couldn’t be stopped, and Sam Leavitt joined the party by doing the same. The Sun Devils had Iowa State’s number from start to finish with Skattebo plays, big plays in the passing game, and defensive to stop them in their tracks while forcing turnovers too. Arizona State’s the likely Cinderella of this postseason as they were projected to finish last in the Big 12 standings. Well, they finished first with a Big 12 title. Can San Fran please keep Skattebo in his home region???🙏🏾
11) INDIANA

Indiana did their job and won enough games to make the playoffs without a conference championship appearance. Curt Cignetti took Indiana to new heights never before seen in their very eyes unless it was basketball. They reached their first ever double-digit win total and finished in the Top 10 for the first time in program history. The Hoosier faithful must be very grateful that Cig is here, and the Big Ten East division is gone forever!
10) SMU

Judge SMU all you want. They’re here to stay and play another game. They are the only team in history to play Week 0 football and make it to the playoffs. Whether they may be one of the weaker teams to play or not, the Mustangs are actually better than some think. I watched them in person when they arrived in Reno. Quarterback Kevin Jennings is the real deal, and the team itself played beyond their expectations to sweep the ACC undefeated and come this close to defeating Clemson for the ACC title. No matter what happens, SMU’s playing hard for 60 minutes.
9) CLEMSON

Clemson had firm control over SMU, but the Mustangs put on another comeback trail and nearly came away with the victory. It took Adam Randall’s 41-yard kick return to eventually lead to a 56-yard walk off field goal to earn Clemson an auto bid to the playoffs. There were mistakes going against them despite not being penalized and Phil Mafah couldn’t cook all night due to injury and getting walled by SMU’s big boy Anthony Booker at times. Clemson might be the unlikeliest team to make a deep playoff run, but if their defense and Mafah can recuperate after a choppy night, anything’s possible.
8) BOISE STATE

Boise chilled out UNLV to win the Mountain West championship and secure their bye as one of the four highest conference champions and representative of the Mountain West and Group of Five team. Good lord, that’s a lot to say. It just means highly of them (no matter how upset I am as a Nevada fan and alumnus). Ashton Jeanty will carry this team as far as he possibly can. Good job…Boise…
7) OHIO STATE

Whether Ohio State fans like it or not, Ohio State’s in and hosting a playoff game. So what if they lost to Michigan for the fourth straight season? So what if they didn’t get a rematch against Oregon in the Big Ten championship? So…what!? They host Tennessee for the opportunity for a rematch with Oregon in the quarterfinals in the historical Rose Bowl stadium. Here’s Ryan Day and Ohio State’s opportunity to atone those missed opportunities. Do your job!
6) TENNESSEE

Tennessee did enough to be playoff bound. Redshirt freshmen Nico Iamaleava, running back Dylan Sampson, and defensive end James Pearce Jr. hopes to lead this rising team as far as they possibly can. They have a tough matchup against Ohio State, so we’re about to find out how good this team really is under coach Josh Heupel.
5) NOTRE DAME

Despite the loss to Northern Illinois, the Fighting Irish did their job and now are playoff bound. What’s more interesting is that they host their in-state rival, Indiana and this is great for everyone. Quarterback Riley Leonard was somewhat of a saving grace for the offense. His dual threat ability makes the offense a bit more dangerous. That element will be effective as they enter postseason play and see how far the Irish can get as the only non-conference team.
4) PENN STATE

Penn State had things motoring with the ground game along with Drew Allar having a good night, but Oregon outpaced them towards the end despite multiple comeback opportunities. They could be a hard out in the playoffs, but Drew Allar and the run game will be key to Penn State’s postseason’s run. Their home playoff game should be very exciting to watch.
3) TEXAS

Texas had multiple opportunities to defeat Georgia, but they failed again. Turnovers, missed field goals, and failed redzone opportunities cost them despite winning the war of attrition. Quinn Ewers has yet to win a big game like this outside of Alabama last season. Texas can still run the table, but the team really needs their quarterback to play at an elite level.
2) GEORGIA

Beatened, battered, bruised, and nearly buried after Carson Beck went down, Georgia didn’t waver, waffle, or lament. They fought hard with all the casualties and backup quarterback Gunner Stockton sparked Georgia just enough to hold on and sweep Texas. They win the SEC championship and receive a much-needed bye to recover and replenish their roster.
1) OREGON

Oregon’s logo is what their loss column looks like after the regular season. They clear the regular season undefeated and are the undisputed overall seed in the playoffs. This roster was built for competition no matter what conference they played in and they’re serious championship contenders too. Coach Dan Lanning, quarterback Dillon Gabriel, and running back Jordan James will lead the Ducks as far as they will take them.
