I drove home from Utah on Sunday while listening to some NFL games on Redzone connected to the car. I tried putting the pieces together on what happened this past weekend. I watched my Niners at one stop and saw Jake Moody missing three out of five kicks but blessing us Niner fans with a game-winner. The Chiefs struggled all game, but was able to witness them escape with a game-winning blocked field goal to stay undefeated. I arrived home in time to see all the afternoon blowouts and watched probably one of the ugliest Sunday Night Football games of the season. It all sounds a bit much, but…what happened? Was Election Week responsible for some of the teams’ inconsistencies??? It won’t happen again. Right!!!??? At least the Bengals/Ravens and Steelers/Washington was fun to watch/listen to.
I also want to mention that My College Football Power Rankings will be out tomorrow morning. Moving forward, the power rankings are posted every Wednesday until the day after the College Football Playoff announcement in December. I’m still experimenting with this whole thing, but people seem to like it so far. I truly appreciate it. Stay tuned! 🙏🏾
10) GREEN BAY PACKERS

BYE
9) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Dismantling a Dak-less Cowboys coupled with Washington’s loss to Pittsburgh was easy enough for Philly to take control of the NFC East. While thing’s are still loud for Nick Sirianni to get the boot, the team is quietly 7-2. Jalen Hurts’ seriously must watch his ball control as the team hosts a Jayden Daniels-led Washington team on Thursday.
8) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Minnesota’s offense struggled in the redzone all game long. They accounted for four field goals and three interceptions while punting twice towards end of the second and fourth quarter. Defense allowed a touchdown against a Mac Jones-led Jacksonville but did a fantastic job shutting them down the rest of the game. Aaron Jones suffered an injury in the process though, but they have depth behind him to manage if he doesn’t go next week.
7) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

Jayden Daniels didn’t have the outing he wanted, but the offense played well enough against a revamped Steelers in a losing effort. An muffed punt on special teams hurt them in the long run along with an unsuccessful run production despite Austin Ekeler’s two rushing touchdowns. Commanders and fans should hold their head high because they proved to be a good team. They are a hard team to overlook, and Philly must be ready for them.
6) ARIZONA CARDINALS

Kyler Murray wasted no time getting his team into gear against the Jets. He, Budda Baker, and Garrett Williams cakewalked the Robert Saleh-less defense and may have forced Jets fans to douse parts of their city to burn after a horrible performance all-around. Arizona continues an unbelievable run and has a chance to be in full control of the NFC West if they defeat Seattle next week.
5) PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Pittsburgh got a taste of Jayden Daniels and stayed with them through the fourth quarter. They made some big plays during the game, which finally gives the fans something to be optimistic about with that offense. Despite two possessions late in the third and early fourth ending in turnovers, Patrick Queen and company didn’t waver a single point in the fourth. That was enough for Russell Wilson to score late and the defense to stop Washington in their tracks. Pittsburgh’s playing hot at the right time prior to AFC North play.
4) BUFFALO BILLS

Josh Allen threw two interceptions and no passing touchdowns. Not good, right? Doesn’t matter. That didn’t stop Buffalo from moving the ball and still finding ways into the endzone. That’s the goal and they did their job against the Colts. Defense made a statement by forcing four turnovers, including a pick-six. Next week, they are tasked against Patrick Mahomes and the rest of the offense that struggled from time-to-time this season.
3) BALTIMORE RAVENS

The pass defense’s suffering continued. Kyle Hamilton went down with a lower leg injury while Brandon Stephens was branded the target by Ja’Marr Chase, Joe Burrow, and company. They had penalties left and right, and Justin Tucker even missed an extra point that could’ve shifted the game to Cincy. All of this and then some, but two turnovers on downs, a forced fumble, and a baller version of Lamar Jackson helped bring Balty back to survive and hold firm in the AFC North.
2) DETROIT LIONS

Jared Goff and Detroit played their ugliest game of the season. Seven interceptions between them and Houston definitely summed up the entire weekend of football. Where David Montgomery failed to bulldoze Houston’s defense, Jahmyr Gibbs came in and sped past them late down the stretch. For all the kickers that struggled this weekend, Jake Bates made probably the oddest two field goals in NFL history. Edging each side of the post is just plain nasty, but Detroit found resiliency to overcome a 10-point deficit and defeat Houston on the road. This could be the official Brand-New Lions competing for the Super Bowl.
1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Games That Kansas City Hasn’t Allowed 30 points: 30 straight
The Chiefs were on the verge of losing their first game of the season surrounded by their home crowd. It looked like Sean Payton may have found a kryptonite to use against Kansas City, which future opponents could use moving forward. When the offense and the defense (finally!) couldn’t do much to stop Denver from trying to win, Leo Chenal and the rest of the special teams unit were the saviors of the game. Per usual…the Chiefs are the Chiefs. Their “under 30-point allowed streak” is on the line against Josh Allen and the Bills.
