BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

The NFC North looks dominant, the Vikings suffered their first loss, the Chiefs are still the Chiefs, and Pittsburgh’s finally figuring things out. Also, Derrick Henry’s a monster, Saquon’s a beast, and James Conner’s a bull. Meanwhile, San Fran is in the crossroads while the Jets are still the Jets. Was it worth firing Robert Saleh after he was supposed to be a part of the plan. Buffalo may have solidified their offense with Amari Cooper, but their defense needs help and cap room is still an issue. The Commanders are hot, but losing Jayden Daniels could create skepticism unless Marcus Mariota keeps it going. Seattle could still the NFC division if San Fran and the Rams continue suffering from injuries. This has been an injury-riddled season. Did special teams have anything to do with it? I need an answer from the NFL and the guy who did the stats on it.

10) CHICAGO BEARS

BYE WEEK

9) SEATTLE SEAHAWKS

Seattle went to Atlanta to give them a reality check. After the Falcons 3-game winning streak all came from the NFC South completely, Seattle reminded them that they’re not a part of that division. Defense had a huge day by forcing a fumble and two interceptions against Kirk Cousins while Geno Smith, DK Metcalf, and Kenneth Walker had a great day. They retake control of the NFC West division.

8) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

The Commanders took care of business against Carolina, but they lost Jayden Daniels to a rib injury and is week-to-week. Marcus Mariota took over and continued the destruction on the Panthers. Washington faces Chicago next week, so it’s up to Mariota to continue the run against Chicago’s stingy defense.

7) BUFFALO BILLS

Buffalo struggled a bit against Tennessee’s defense out the gate, but they shut Tennessee down as the game progressed. Amari Cooper got his first touchdown as a Bill and did well that game. Defense made life difficult for the offense and didn’t allow another point after giving up 10 early. Now, if they can solve the injury bug on defense…

6) HOUSTON TEXANS

CJ Stroud didn’t play well, but Joe Mixon took care of everything else on the ground, including two scores. Defense gave this team many opportunities to win, including nabbing two interceptions. Houston was this close to defeating Green Bay before losing in a walk-off field goal kick. Houston still holds first in their division despite the Colts and Jags winning.

5) GREEN BAY PACKERS

Jordan Love threw two interceptions but also threw three touchdowns. Green Bay was in a fight with Houston for the entire game and was on the verge of losing at home. Thankfully, the new guy Brandon McManus got a warm welcome from Packer Nation after a walk-off field goal kick for the win. Romeo Doubs had another great game, and the defense kept Stroud in check. However, they allowed 115 rush yards and two touchdowns to Joe Mixon. Packers have now allowed 100 plus rushing yards in four of six games this season, and those games were decided by six points or less.

4) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Vikings suffered their first loss of the season, and at home of all places. Sam Darnold played well despite throwing an interception and the rest of the offense did well while playing catch up against Detroit. Defense had some struggles throughout the game and only forced one turnover, and that turnover was by Ivan Pace Jr. who returned it for a touchdown. Outside of that, not a good day for Flores’ defense.

3) BALTIMORE RAVENS

Baltimore won, but let a big lead get away from them on a couple of opposite possessions. It doesn’t matter because Derrick Henry mowed Tampa’s defense for 169 yards and a reception touchdown. Rashod Bateman had a huge day with 121 receiving yards while Lamar threw for FIVE TOUCHDOWNS!!! They reel off five straight wins after a slow start, and the offensive line may have finally found their footing.

2) DETROIT LIONS

Detroit hands Minnesota their first loss. They may be Minnesota’s kryptonite and made Sam Darnold and Brian Flores’ defense struggle. Jared Goff, Jahmyr Gibbs, and Amon-Ra St. Brown had a big day, but not as big as the defense post-Hutchinson. They rallied around each other and disrupted the backfield and made an impact throughout the game. Maybe they don’t need to panic on that side of the ball just yet.

1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Games that Kansas City held teams under 30 points: 27 straight

The Chiefs took down San Fran for the fourth straight time since Pat Mahomes became the starter (twice at San Fran and twice in the Super Bowl). They kept the 49ers under 20 points and forced three turnovers on Brock Purdy, including one in the endzone. Pat Mahomes didn’t have a good day passing, but his mobility and elite improvising along with Kareem Hunt’s big day running carved the Niner defense. Unfortunately, they lose another receiver in JuJu Smith-Schuster. How much more can they endure with a limited receiver corps???
