BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

ACC

Clemson’s back in the ACC title and CFP conversation, but the road there might go through Pitt and/or Miami as they’re the two remaining undefeated ACC teams left. Clemson luckily plays Pitt later while needing help from a team to upset the ‘Canes. SMU, Louisville, Virginia, and even Georgia Tech could still create more chaos. Duke, Boston College, and Virginia Tech are still alive for an ACC title race, but it’ll take more than just luck to be in that conversation. They need plenty of help when November rolls around.

BIG TEN

The top four Big Ten teams are…Indiana…Oregon…Penn State, and…Illinois!!!??? Am I living in the Twilight Zone and/or some sort of alternate universe??? What is this Big Ten??? There’s still plenty of season left, but what the heck??? Ohio State, Nebraska, Iowa, Michigan, and Wisconsin are all hanging around hoping for a turnaround. While some still play each other, my mind is still confused over these standings. Welcome to the new world of Big Ten football. We might be in for that version of chaos before or around next month.

BIG 12

Like the Big Ten, the Big 12 is following that trend of new taking over the conference. BYU and Iowa State are in control while being ranked in the Top 13. Wow! Texas Tech, Kansas State, CINCINNATI!!!!, Colorado, and West Virginia round out the Top 8 Big 12 teams in contention. Meanwhile, Oklahoma State, Baylor, and Kansas are the old Big 12 chilling at the bottom at 0-3 in-conference. Do those teams already miss Texas’s and Oklahoma’s presence???

SEC

After six to seven games of SEC football, more than half the conference is panicking. You know who’s not? The state of Texas and Vanderbilt (Yes, that Vanderbilt!!!). A&M’s home field advantage with no Alabama or Georgia gives them leverage for a potential CFP spot while Texas is already controlling the SEC while awaiting Georgia’s arrival this weekend. Vanderbilt’s riding the Pavia wagon and playing like they have nothing to lose after upsetting Alabama. As for the rest, Georgia’s defense is surprisingly struggling, LSU’s sputtering through their schedule, Arkansas is a hit or miss depending on how their offense plays, Alabama might be having an identity crisis without Nick Saban, neighboring teams Ole Miss, Tennessee, and Missouri are looking overrated, and Oklahoma’s God-awful offense is making the team look God-awful overall (sigh). That being said, the conference might be on fire, and the state of Texas and the Vanderbilt Pavias are watching it from a horizon.
