So, Robert Saleh’s fired. Jeff Ulbrich fills in as the interim head coach. Surprising that it happened this early, but not surprising with how last season, offseason, and parts of this season has gone. That’s business, man. Otherwise, a weird 2023 NFL season doesn’t compare to 2024. It’s really weird. The Vikings are undefeated, the Commanders lead the NFC East, the Bengals aren’t winning with Joe Burrow, the Cowboys are beat up, and the 49ers are 2-3 and beat up while the Cardinals are 2-0 in the NFC West. While all that smoke is happening, the Chiefs are still the Chiefs. The NFL’s burning in all the right and wrong places. Does this continue? Will my sanity maintain through all these Niners injuries? Stay tuned for more lol
10) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

San Fran is now 0-2 in the NFC West and against those very foes when leading. They’re at 2-3 with injuries continuing to pile up. They’re playing good football but injuries and failing to finish the game against rivals is just not a good thing. Maybe it’s a slow start and they probably pick things up after the bye when most of their key players like Christian McCaffrey and Dre Greenlaw return from injury, or it could be something worse. It all comes down to Seattle before their back-to-back onslaught matchups against Kansas City and Dallas before the bye. It’s a tough stretch if they fail to win on Thursday.
9) BUFFALO BILLS

Buffalo goes down again in clutch time to Houston. Apparently, the play calling down the stretch wasn’t to Josh Allen’s liking. He took a beating trying to help his team win as well. Their next game won’t be easy as they take on Aaron Rodgers and the Jets, who also came off a loss at London.
8) ATLANTA FALCONS

The Falcons may have figured out who they are, and it took until their rivalry matchup with Tampa Bay to get things rolling. Kirk Cousins and the receiving corps that were responsible for 60 plus yards were in a shootout with Baker Mayfield and company from start to finish. When things looked bleak, Jessie Bates III came in clutch with a forced fumble that turned the tide really quick for the comeback win. If Atlanta can avoid a hangover against the Panthers, they will contend for the NFC South title.
7) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

The Commanders commanded and conquered Cleveland with ease. Jayden Daniels is looking like one of one for the organization and boy do they look impressive this early. The man to get some credit on defense is Frankie Luvu. His name’s been called throughout the game. Now, the team travels north on the I-295 to face the Baltimore Ravens. That will be their biggest test.
6) HOUSTON TEXANS

The Texans cooked early and held off Buffalo to continue their run to the postseason. Stefon Diggs gets a huge win against his former team in the Bills, but they lost Nico Collins for the rest of the game due to injury. Hope he’s ok. Houston’s slowly but surely separating themselves from the rest of the division thanks to the Jags win over the Colts. However, they haven’t blown a team out thus far to make themselves a viable threat.
5) GREEN BAY PACKERS

Green Bay holds up against the Rams on the road to join Chicago and Minnesota in wins today. Defensive back Xavier McKinney’s on a roll with his interceptions since joining Green Bay. Him and Tucker Kraft teamed up on opposite ends to help the Packers win. If anyone’s aware, Green Bay has historically failed at Los Angeles, but they had the roster to match and outplay the Rams.
4) BALTIMORE RAVENS

Lamar Jackson and Joe Burrow dueled to the very end that went as far as overtime. Cincinnati had plenty of opportunities to end Baltimore after being up by 10 on a couple of occasions. But Lamar Jackson found a way for the team to come back and force overtime. When Cincy had the opportunity to end it with a field goal, that didn’t work out for them. Lamar Jackson does it again and helps lead the team to a win with a walk-off field goal. Baltimore is slowly but surely putting things together, but there’s still some wrinkles to be worked. Their defense better be ready for Jayden Daniels’ arrival to Baltimore.
3) DETROIT LIONS

BYE WEEK
2) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

Minnesota does it again. In back-to-back games against Aaron Rodgers former and current team, they jumped out to a big lead to only have it dwindle down the stretch. They held on twice and go on to be 5-0. The Vikings look like the real deal and could be a serious playoff contender. I can’t say Super Bowl because we’ve all witnessed enough opportunities from them in the past. For now, they’re cooking!
1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Games that Kansas City held teams under 30 points: 26 straight
The Chiefs do it again and the offense continues finding ways to get things moving, including finding the redzone more consistently. Kansas City’s defense should now be the moniker of the team. If you look up at their streak, this proves why they’re on a massive run again. I don’t see any other team on this schedule except the 49ers (in two weeks) that could potentially break their streak. San Fran’s capable of scoring 30, but that remains to be seen how their roster is after Seattle on Thursday. Otherwise, Kansas City’s defense might be keeping teams under 30 points for the entire 2024/2025 season too.
