BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

This was some type of Week 4 football. Buffalo, Pittsburgh and Seattle finally suffered their first loss. Meanwhile, Minnesota’s undefeated and the Commanders lead the NFC East. A Raiders win proves Cleveland can’t be trusted, and I implore more of you to not trust them either. The Chiefs continue finding ways to win, but more of their receiving corps fall after Rashee Rice’s ACL injury. Denver won two straight games while not allowing 10 points, and the Chargers lost two straight games scoring 10 points twice. I confirmed from an Eagle fan that other Eagles fans want Nick Sirianni out, but Jags fans also seem tired of Doug Pederson. Tough times for Eagles and Eagle-related people. Dallas had many opportunities to lose if the Giants could’ve score just one touchdown. And finally, Joe Flacco takes the field…again while Anthony Richardson’s injured…again!

Enjoy this Kenneth Walker run video as you go through the Top 10 teams below it.

10) TAMPA BAY BUCCANEERS

Tampa Bay trounced Philly post-Hurricane Helene to give Tampa fans something to really cheer about. Baker Mayfield bounced back by cooking from start to finish. That even impressed Tom Brady to congratulate him in person. The Bucs have a tough battle on Thursday against Atlanta to see who takes control of the NFC South.

9) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

Congrats to the Washington Commanders! Jayden Daniels is the real deal, the offense is in-sync, and the defense is slowly putting things together. Did I mention that they haven’t punt much either? However, let’s not get ahead of ourselves just yet. They could go on a run through October, but they have a date at Baltimore in two weeks and a loss could occur across I-295. If Washington keeps cooking, they belong in my power rankings for a while.

8) HOUSTON TEXANS

Houston woke up and CJ Stroud brought the team back to keep the Jags winless. The Jags last win was against Houston in their city, but the Texans made sure that drought continued past Houston. It’s unclear what’s going on with the defense, but they got it together in the second half and held firm. Maybe I’m too quick to assume Houston is the real deal, but never count out Stroud.

7) GREEN BAY PACKERS

Green Bay looked off for most of the game, but Jordan Love also had an excuse to work off the rust since Week 1. Once urgency took over, the Packers started cooking the same way Georgia did to get back in the game. Unfortunately, they came up short but Green Bay shouldn’t have any doubt moving forward as long as Jordan Love stays healthy.

6) BUFFALO BILLS

Buffalo came out attacking to only run into Baltimore’s buzzsaw. After scoring a touchdown, they were shut down for most of the game. The lack of depth on defense eventually reared Buffalo’s head, including more injuries on Sunday Night. Josh Allen was reluctant to still play after getting clocked during a fumble. Buffalo definitely got exposed defensively, making their run questionable if bodies keep falling.

5) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The 49ers took their sweet time dismantling New England. More injuries occurred with Fred Warner and George Kittle out during the game, but the team didn’t falter. Brock Purdy was surgical again, Jordan Mason was a battering ram, and the defensive front and pass rushers were relentless on Jacoby Brissett. This was a much-needed win to bounce back…but how much more casualties on that roster can San Fran afford to lose???

4) DETROIT LIONS

Detroit holds off Seattle in a high-scoring affair. Jared Goff was perfect on his throws and had to be to keep Seattle from coming back. Things still need to be cleaned up in the secondary and penalties must be addressed too. For now, they have another revenge game at Dallas, and Lions fans will keep a close eye on the officials.

3) BALTIMORE RAVENS

Baltimore looked like the Baltimore that everyone expected: a physical and intimidating team on all sides. Seeing what Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry finally did makes the organization optimistic. The defense got after Josh Allen and stave off any sort of complacency that would’ve led to a Buffalo comeback.

2) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Vikings gave Green Bay a hard time for most of the game but almost pulled an Alabama/Georgia situation after giving up a massive 28-0 lead. Sam Darnold cooks with an experienced offense while the experienced defense continues wreaking havoc on opposing teams. Minnesota will cook as long as Darnold stays hot.

1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Games that Kansas City held teams under 30 points: 25 straight

They overcame a 10-0 deficit to Jim Harbaugh’s Chargers and held firm despite the offensive inconsistencies again. As long as the defense holds and Pat Mahomes stays healthy, the team will always be in it no matter what. However, their receiving corps’ looking a little thin after Rashee Rice’s injury.
