BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone, I was working my other job, so I backed the NFL power rankings to today and college football power rankings to tomorrow. However, be sure to check out the updated college football 12-team bracket on my site. I watched highlights I missed during Sunday morning and afternoon and it’s proving that the NFL is recently unpredictable. While some may have stood out well after three games, others we expected are currently struggling. As for my Niners, I’m not worried. Now if they don’t win another game before the bye, then I’m worried. It’s still a long season, but I see three to four teams that look like Super Bowl contenders. I won’t say who but take a guess on who they might be with 14 games to go.

10) NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

New Orleans moved the ball more consistently than Philly but failed to finish drives. What hurt them was losing the line of scrimmage throughout the game against Philly’s front. It was a chess match, and Philly eventually broke down their defense. Plenty was put on Chris Olave and Alvin Kamara to carry this offense. They had opportunities to put the Eagles out of reach but were stalled a lot and failed to complete a late game comeback. The Saints may have finally been exposed in the trenches.

9) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Philly struggled early, but Saquon Barkley and Dallas Goedert had massive games to keep Philly in it and eventually win it. This shouldn’t take away from the problem this team had, and I’m pointing the finger at Jalen Hurts. This is the third straight game he’s had turnover issues in ball control and interceptions. His ball management will be the wild card moving forward, but at least he has weapons to back him up (even without AJ Brown). When the team needed their defense to come through, they came through and credit goes to the defensive line for constant backfield penetrations.

8) HOUSTON TEXANS

CJ Stroud threw an interception on the first play of the first drive and the team hasn’t looked good since. Sam Darnold put a hurting to the defense throughout the game. Stefon Diggs, Cam Akers, and Danielle Hunter’s return to Minnesota was a bittersweet one too. Also, they were without their two starting running backs in Joe Mixon and Dameon Pierce. Houston and Stroud struggles on the road from time-to-time, but this was a big one that they need to look back on. If they want to compete in the postseason, winning road games is very important.

7) BALTIMORE RAVENS

Baltimore’s run game gouged Dallas for 274 RUSHING YARDS! Derrick Henry was responsible for the majority of it with two touchdowns while Lamar Jackson was behind him for the second most. The Ravens identity is coming to life, but they’re still allowing points late in the game. That could still be an issue, but at least they still escaped with a much needed first win.

6) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

The 49ers’ six drops, crucial missed field goal late in the game, a few big passing plays allowed in coverage, and a successful punt fake and a big late game punt return by the Rams cost the 49ers a win. It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t hold on, but they showed that they will fight to the end for the second straight week. While Brock Purdy took significant steps to where this team could be Super Bowl contenders again, he’s now caught with the injury bug. These injuries must end if they want a chance. I’m also curious on who these trainers are.

5) MINNESOTA VIKINGS

The Vikings are 3-0 for the first time since 2016. Sam Darnold and Justin Jefferson tore apart the Texans defense for four touchdowns and didn’t look back. Maybe Minnesota finally has something there and Sam may have found a new home where he truly belongs. However, their true road test is at Green Bay this weekend.

4) DETROIT LIONS

MCDC’s Lions got back to what the Lions do best…playing MCDC football. After making Jared Goff throw more than 50 times last week, he chopped his throws down to around 20 attempts. He’s 2-0 when he throws under 30 attempts. The run game was normal again after the team rushed 187 yards with David Montgomery and Jahmyr Gibbs accounting for most of it. It’s also good to see Amon-Ra St. Brown get his touches too. Keep an eye on Sam LaPorta’s injury after going down during a hook-and-ladder touchdown play.

3) BUFFALO BILLS

Josh Allen and the Bills sent Trevor Lawrence and the Jags running home in humiliation. They came out of the gate hitting them in every way possible without mercy or pity. The Bills are looking like one of the better AFC teams this early through three weeks. They’ll likely be tested in Baltimore, but they seem up to the challenge.

2) GREEN BAY PACKERS

Former Titan Malik Willis got his win against his former team and the skills position players helped him get the win he deserved. He was responsible for 275 total yards of offense and two touchdowns. The defense punished the Titans’ offense throughout the game, including Jaire Alexander’s pick six. Green Bay’s looking better each week, and Jordan Love’s eventual return will boost this team’s confidence even more as they welcome in former Packer Aaron Jones and Minnesota.

1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

The Chiefs escaped for the third time and Spag’s defense holds a team under 30 points for the 24th straight game. Yeah, I will keep mentioning it until that run is. That’s how good their defense is; however, the secondary is a glaring weakness. Whether Chiefs fans agree or not, just take a look at the videos during this early season. It’ll eventually cost them later.
