Describe a random encounter with a stranger that stuck out positively to you.
It happened last year when I made the 8-hour drive to Provo, Utah. I drove there for the Oklahoma football game and did a bit of scouting to see which BYU players could end up in the NFL Draft and/or be the future for the program’s football team. Also, Oklahoma was in Provo for the first time ever and I was close to Utah, so I had to make the trip.
After stepping on campus and taking in all the vibes and environment that BYU had to offer, I went inside the stadium on a mission for my seating location. Once I finally found it after getting turned around a couple of times, I sat next to this nice gentleman. He openly introduced himself, his son, and the rest of his family. I was surprised but responded kindly with a handshake and introduced myself as well. In the middle of the game with an overcast of intermittent snow and rain, we chatted during the game, cheered on our teams, and he even shared his meal with me (even though I wasn’t hungry, I wasn’t going to pass up on the offer). We exchanged socials and said our goodbyes after the game.
Honestly, that was the best part of my trip. Usually, I don’t have that much luck with strangers because they go about their thing. They sometimes say hi and just keep it moving. Since I enjoy going to sporting events, I have a better chance of socializing with people there than any other events outside of it. I love watching, playing, and talking sports. It’s the best way to socialize with people. That day restored some of my confidence I lost for a while. I look forward to returning to Utah for a football game this upcoming season and other sporting events I plan to attend in other places. If anyone has any recommendations on games or teams I should check out that’s worth attending, let me know in the comments below😊
