BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

AFC WEST

It seemed like the Chiefs would run away with this division with probably 3 weeks to go. Unfortunately, they can’t “catch” a break. The receivers outside of Travis Kelce, the running backs, and Rashee Rice have not helped out Patrick Mahomes thus far. They should still win the division, but the overall seed is up for grabs. The Broncos restored their defense and played like themselves again for a month and a half, but their remaining schedule determines if they’re a playoff team. The Raiders are a much better defensive team, but their offense can’t back it up and only scored over 20 points twice this season. An ill, injury riddled Maxximum Crosby still played his tail off only to see the Raiders come up short again. The Chargers can’t solve their close game issues. Brandon Staley’s team is still inconsistent. He may have gone to calling for the defense, but it still never solved the issue. Sorry, but the man must go.

AFC EAST

I won’t speak for the Jets because they’re a sad, annoying joke as an organization. I’ll get back to them if they find their way in the playoffs miraculously. The Patriots are done after losing their ninth game, so we move on. The Dolphins may have this division in hand. However, they failed against three teams with winning records. Unfortunately, their last three games are against winning teams (Cowboys, Ravens, Bills). If they want to compete for the Super Bowl, they must beat those teams to have a chance. The Bills can’t get out of their own way. They now lost five of their last eight games. If I didn’t say enough about the Madden curse being real, let me say this once again. THE MADDEN CURSE IS SO FREAKING REAL!!!! Their last four of five games are murderer’s row (at Chiefs, Cowboys, at Chargers, at Dolphins). Good luck making the wild card.

AFC NORTH

The Bengals could likely be done. They’re on a three-game losing streak and their schedule gets tougher from there. Their last six games could be losable unless the team finds a silver lining somewhere with Jake Browning, the offense, and the defense as a whole. The Browns will slowly but surely collapse. Their offense is back to the usual offense that’s trying to find a quarterback solution. They had one before giving him the boot in favor of Deshaun Watson, who’s out for the season. The Browns are cursed, and the quarterbacks are paying for it. The Ravens are in a strong position to win the division after all. I really thought the injuries would appear and ruin their hopes. Guess things changed. And don’t look now, but the Steelers are still in playoff contention and played their best offensive game since Matt Canada was fired. Let’s see if that continues.

AFC SOUTH

The Jags and Texans dueled once again, but Jacksonville triumphs. Jacksonville already swept Indianapolis and won the first meeting over Tennessee with one more needed for five division wins. The Minshew Mania Colts won three straight and have their own opportunity of sweeping Tennessee and Houston in January. The road wasn’t easy, but the Colts have a solid squad to compete for the playoffs. The Texans are down but not out. They will fight but they need to chalk up some more divisional wins if they want to stay in playoff contention. The Titans are clearly rebuilding, but they seem adamant about Will Levis as their guy. It’s not about what they can’t do because they can compete, but they’re 0-2 in the division and the three right above them are playing better football right now.
