BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone? I’m posting a day early because I’m out of town for the rest of the week. Changes might come next week involving my blogging content. Not sure what, but it’ll still be the same even if it’s a little different. Hopefully things will be for San Fran and Buffalo as well because this was a surprising loss by them. However, the Lions loss to Baltimore’s not. Baltimore was the better team for sure. I’m currently podcasting about the NFL, football in general, and pretty much random stuff. Once I figure out where to put the link for the next blog, you’ll get the info if you want to check it out. Have a great rest of your week and weekend everyone!

5) JETS AT GIANTS

10AM PT/1PM ET [CBS]

The battle of Eastern New York/New Jersey is on…in an oddly weird turn of events. The Jets and Giants are trudging along, but the clash will tell who likely prospers. They both were inconsistent offensively, lost their starting quarterbacks to injury, and their defense had to carry them for the early portion of the season (despite the Giants defense struggling early). Backups Zach Wilson and Tyrod Taylor did a decent job not screwing things up too much for their respective teams. Eventually it came to form, key players are recovering, and both are competing again. It’s likely a close game and we could expect an ugly one for sure. The Giants are gaining momentum after their last two games, but it’s hard to go against the Jets defense with Zach Wilson slowly, but surely getting better as a game-manager on offense.

MY PICK: JETS

4) EAGLES AT COMMANDERS

10AM PT/1PM ET [FOX]

The Eagles recovered with a convincing victory over Miami while the Commanders couldn’t muster up a comeback to tie the game at least. Like the last matchup, it seems like the Eagles could run away with this game, but it’s hard to believe when this matchup is underrated and better than some experts think. While the Eagles can easily impose their will on opposing defenses without much of a response, the Commanders are more resilient and won’t quit win or lose. Remember last season when they came out of nowhere and upset the Eagles at Philadelphia? It’s possible they can pull it off at home if they can just get over the hump with Sam Howell. However, he needs help from his offensive line, which is like asking a blind shepherd to lead the herd to the river. I have a crazy notion that the Eagles won’t run away with this game again and turnovers will play a key part into this matchup. If the Commanders take advantage this time, they could upset the Eagles in a close one.

MY PICK: COMMANDERS

3) CHIEFS AT BRONCOS

1:25PM PT/4:25PM ET [CBS]

The Chiefs and Broncos meet once again after clashing two weeks ago. The Chiefs offense is ebb-and-flow, but Pat Mahomes and Travis Kelce aren’t sweating the issues. The ball will always go through them. As for the Broncos, they’re slowly competing on both sides, but inconsistencies and miscues still ensue within the organization. For better or worse, the team needs Russell Wilson. He’s the team’s do-or-die player when it comes to matchups like this. Two weeks ago, the defense played their best football after allowing 41 points per game in four straight games prior. What Denver needs is Russell Wilson and the offense to figure out how to get past the Chiefs defense that haven’t allowed more than 20 points since the loss to Detroit. Unless the Broncos have an answer to their 16-game losing streak against KC, Kansas City escapes Mile High with their 17th straight win.

MY PICK: CHIEFS

2) RAIDERS AT LIONS

5:15PM PT/8:15PM ET [ABC/ESPN ON MONDAY]

This is Detroit’s first home Monday Night Football since 2018 in Week 1. They will be fired up as they host the Vegas Raiders. Both are coming off blowout road losses with little to no response, but they will wake up and make plays this time…or at least one of them. While the Raiders have talent, the offense can’t score over 20 points without the help from Maxximum Crosby and the defense. The safety against the Patriots clinched them over 20 points for the first time this season two weeks ago. Otherwise, they struggle in scoring (16 points per game – 30th in league). The Lions had their worst loss of the season against the Ravens after putting a clinic on the last four teams prior. Either injuries hampered their overall performance or Baltimore was by far the better team. Detroit should have no problem recovering and playing at a high level again. The Raiders have a good defense, but the offense can’t score much, and Detroit’s pass rush (led by Aidan Hutchinson) will swarm the offense for the majority of the game.

MY PICK: LIONS

1) BENGALS AT 49ERS

1:25PM PT/4:25PM ET [CBS]

The 49ers come off their second straight loss, and it couldn’t have come at a worst time. The Bengals come off their bye week with the assumption that Joe Burrow is likely 100% healthy. It shouldn’t take away the exciting matchup, but the concern is San Francisco’s key players currently injured (Trent Williams and Deebo Samuel). Deebo is one thing, but Trent’s unavailability worries the 49ers’ offensive productivity, and it’s up to Kyle Shanahan to adjust without him. The Bengals won three of their last four games, and it’s looking like the Bengals are mostly back with a healthy Burrow. Interestingly enough, all three of their wins were against the NFC West with just San Francisco left to finish off that division. The Bengals could leverage the matchup with the 49ers’ current situation and probably win, but the Bengals are historically bad at San Francisco with only two wins in the last eight meetings. If the 49ers are resilient enough, they will find a way to win before they head into a much-needed bye to recover.
