BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

Daily writing prompt
What traditions have you not kept that your parents had?

Growing up, I used to go to church every Sunday. I never knew why, but it was something my parents always did. My grandma and my mom’s side were very religious people. As I got older, I questioned it even before taking a World Religion’s class in college.

I don’t want to go into too much detail and offend anyone, but I had to explore and learn about it. I was never happy as a Christian because of the hypocrisy of Christianity in our modern age compared to the old age. I had conversations with a few people relating to it and they either criticized and guilt me for my decisions or tried pushing me back into it. I’ve always thought Christianity was a peaceful religion where people were kind to each other. Apparently not for everyone, and some were even strict.

Out of all religions I’ve learned, Buddhism was my favorite. I’m still a Christian by heart, but Buddhism taught me to be more understanding, indifferent, kind, and caring to people no matter who or what they are. I went out of my comfort zone just to find out, which Buddha did as well coming from a rich and powerful family. I’ve also learned no matter what religion or background in general you come from, but there are many gateways that lead to God or even Nirvana.
