BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

What’s up everyone? Hope you all are enjoying your wintery life and enduring the snow and ice and staying safe from storms in certain places across the country. We are past the NFL combine and are about to hit the free agency starting March 12th and lasting until March 15th. Aaron Rodgers is still deciding while Derek Carr signed with his new team. Jimmy Garoppolo will be elsewhere as soon as Aaron Rodgers makes his decision. It’s still early, but next week could be crazy before the NFL draft next month. Be on the look out for my next post after the free agency period ends. Have a great week everyone!

DIVISION WINNERS

1) SAN FRANCISCO 49ERS

Robbie Gould plans to look elsewhere to play. Quarterback conversations continue to swirl as soon-to-be rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson was in talks with the San Francisco staff at the combine. No guarantees he gets picked by us (we have enough of it, and we need a vet and a “healthy” solution). Brock Purdy goes through surgery for his elbow injury. His timeline for return is about 3 months.

2) PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

Javon Hargrave and Chauncey Gardner-Johnson (CJ GJ) are on the free agency market. The roster may take another hit unless Jason Kelce doesn’t announce retirement. Supposedly, Quez Watkins might not be on the roster next season.

3) CAROLINA PANTHERS

Jimmy Garoppolo’s name was mentioned for Carolina along with other teams he could sign with. It’s a viable option since he can manage an offense pretty well.

4) DETROIT LIONS

Detroit’s name was mentioned as the target location for Anthony Richardson. They have Jared Goff now, but things could change depending on the situation going into the upcoming season. Not sure if Detroit will go after A.R., but CJ Stroud and Bryce Young should still be a hot topic of discussion and controversy in comparison to Richardson prior to the draft.

WILD CARD

5) DALLAS COWBOYS

Tony Pollard was franchise tagged. It was mentioned that running Bijan Robinson could be on Dallas’s radar, although it’s not likely. Still no change about the Zeke Elliott situation. Dalton Schultz will likely not be back with Dallas. However, DeAndre Hopkins could be a target for the Cowboys, and allegedly, there’s a very, very, VERY tiny chance that they get Amari Cooper back from Cleveland. Also, Dak Prescott could be looking for a contract extension.

6) WASHINGTON COMMANDERS

Sam Howell’s receiving praise not only from Taylor Heinicke, but a small bit from Ron Rivera. From the sounds of it, this could be Howell’s starting opportunity. Everyone also knows by now that Daron Payne’s franchise tagged.

7) NEW ORLEANS SAINTS

Derek Carr signed with the Saints for 4 years. Is Michael Thomas suiting up for the Saints next season or will he be elsewhere?

OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

SEATTLE – Could be on Florida quarterback Anthony Richardson’s radar.

MINNESOTA – They released Eric Kendricks and Adam Thielen. Justin Jefferson, KJ Osborn, TJ Hockenson are main targets now and Minnesota’s going through changes on defense.

GREEN BAY – Still awaiting Rodgers’ decision. Jordan Love either starts or is likely on the trade block before, during, or after the draft.

ATLANTA – After alleged talks about Atlanta seeking Lamar Jackson, they move on after a weird franchise tag clause the Ravens put on Lamar.

CHICAGO – They have 100% leverage with their overall pick. They could trade it for some picks and/or much needed players during the offseason. They have plenty of cap to do what they must do to be competitive.

DIVISION WINNERS

1) KANSAS CITY CHIEFS

Frank Clark was released after K.C. and Clark’s agent failed to find common ground on a re-worked deal.

2) JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS

Calvin Ridley was reinstated. That’s a major positive for Jacksonville as they add another weapon to Lawrence’s already loaded arsenal. They also franchise tag Evan Engram to ensure their pass-catching roster is loaded for the upcoming season.

3) PITTSBURGH STEELERS

Soon-to-be rookie Jordan Addison could be a receiver aimed by Pittsburgh. As we’ve seen Ja’Mar Chase reunite with Joe Burrow, DeVonta Smith reunite with Jalen Hurts, and Jaylen Waddle reunite with Tua Tagovailoa, it’s possible Jordan Addison reunites with Kenny Pickett after time together at Pittsburgh University. While Pickett already has weapons, it wouldn’t hurt to add Addison for QB-WR familiarity. All just speculation.

4) BUFFALO BILLS

Leslie Frazier is taking a year off and Jordan Poyer is looking for a place where he doesn’t have to pay many taxes (Miami, probably). There’s also rumors that Stephon Diggs could be on the trade block. Something’s up with Buffalo. Keep an eye out more on their situation.

WILD CARD

5) CINCINNATI BENGALS

After discussions with a Bengals’ fan, they’re looking for a right tackle. 49er right tackle Mike McGlinchey was mentioned as he goes into free agency. Kaleb McGary’s also on the market. Jawaan Taylor’s is a free agent too, but Jacksonville will try to keep him.

6) NEW YORK JETS

New York is still awaiting Aaron Rodgers’ decision. While he’s pending, the organization lost out on Derek Carr. If Rodgers’ stays in Green Bay, Jimmy Garoppolo will be the next option.

7) DENVER BRONCOS

The only important update is Jerry Jeudy’s fifth option decision. No clue what they plan to do with him, yet.

OUTSIDE LOOKING IN

MIAMI – Is Tua the guy or will they potentially aim for Jimmy G.???

L.A. CHARGERS – Kellen Moore is on the staff. He should help the offense continue to hum (consistently, maybe?). Look out for Keenan Allen to end up elsewhere if LA doesn’t retain him.

CLEVELAND – N/A

NEW ENGLAND – Rumors or not, the controversy in New England could likely be true. Allegedly, quarterback competition is in session between Mac Jones and Bailey Zappe. Also allegedly, a Mac Jones trade to Vegas to reunite with Josh McDaniels is something to ponder. However, the offensive play-calling must be solved no matter who the quarterback is.

BALTIMORE – The Lamar Jackson contract situation is going nowhere. Franchise tagging him doesn’t help. Something must be done, or Jackson could holdout.
