BRACKET AND POWER RANKINGS

BYE WEEK: DOLPHINS, SEAHAWKS, BUCCANEERS, JAGUARS

I did say prime time previews were optional. These happen to be the matchups I want to do my information on. The Chiefs/Chargers matchup was originally in the 1:25pm slot, but they flexed the Steelers/Bengals for the Sunday Night primetime slot.

THURSDAY NIGHT PREVIEW

TITANS AT PACKERS – 5:15PM PT/8:15PM ET [PRIME VIDEO]

Green Bay gets a huge win and receiver Christian Watson finally has his welcome to the NFL moment with three touchdowns against the Cowboys. Next up is Tennessee, who scored 17 unanswered points against an offensively inept Broncos with Ryan Tannehill scoring two touchdowns in his return from injury. If anyone watched the Pat McAfee Show a couple of months ago, Aaron Rodgers mentioned that even with Tennessee’s slow start, coach Mike Vrabel and Derrick Henry is still on the roster and will be a threat. Now, Rodgers must deal with them and their defense.

This is potentially low-scoring and Tennessee mostly win in these situations, which means Green Bay must follow up on their offensive performance with all hands-on deck involving running backs and receivers in a short period. With Tennessee looking a little limp across their depth chart, Green Bay should win their second straight game.

MY PICK: PACKERS

SUNDAY NIGHT PREVIEW

CHIEFS AT CHARGERS – 5:20PM PT/8:20PM ET

Ah yes, this rivalry matchup. Remember the first meeting where it looked like the game belonged to the Chargers before that unnecessary no-huddle decision without having a bit of remorse for Gerald Everett’s fatigue that led to a game-changing interception return for a touchdown that led the Chiefs to victory? Yeah, I do. Well, ever since that game, the Chiefs added another target to their lineup while the Chargers are dealing with injury after injury weekly. Not saying it won’t be an interesting primetime game, but it feels scripted. The Chargers could come out hot but then find some way to blow those moments and the Chiefs carve them up towards the end. Again, it just feels scripted.

Assumingly, the Chiefs should win again whether it’s the Chargers blowing it again under coach Brandon Staley or by way of the Chiefs dominating the run game. Either way, don’t expect a blowout. The Chiefs aren’t playing the NFC West (outscored two NFC West foes 88-24, others 182-162).

MY PICK: CHIEFS

MONDAY NIGHT PREVIEW

49ERS AT CARDINALS (MEXICO) – 5:15PM PT/8:15PM ET

Speaking of NFC West, the 49ers and Cardinals fly down to Mexico for a neutral site Monday Night game. However, Kyler Murray could be a game time decision, but the staff doesn’t know if they want him active. Either way, San Francisco must prepare for DeAndre Hopkins, James Conner, and J.J. Watt. Here are the positives for San Fran though: after allowing 72 points in their last two losses, they bounced back by allowing under 20 points twice in their two straight wins. Oddly enough, Jimmy Garoppolo has a great record when it comes to throwing no touchdowns (google it). It makes a Niner fan like me very happy. He may not score, but he’s not screwing up at the same time. If Arizona doesn’t have Murray available, Colt McCoy will start for the second straight week. He’s a good quality quarterback who will get the job done and his weapons will back him up.

The 49ers have all the advantage to end their two-game losing streak to Arizona but must do everything to win this matchup to stay undefeated in the NFC West. They are currently 4-12 in this meeting since 2014, so it means a lot more in this rivalry. Arizona will compete and probably cause problems like usual, but San Francisco has their run game together with some gadgets to execute their drives. Also, their defense should eventually shut down Colt McCoy by game’s end.

MY PICK: 49ERS
