Chargers vs. Chiefs – 5:15PM PT/8:15PM ET [Prime Video]
Last week, the Chargers came out firing, especially in the second quarter with a couple of touchdowns. Defense showed huge improvement compared to last year with the addition of Khalil Mack, who nabbed 3 sacks. The Chiefs showed why they’re still the team to beat in the AFC, and the loss of Tyreek Hill didn’t mean much to Patrick Mahomes, Andy Reid, and the offense. This Thursday Night should be the most anticipated game of the season.
LOS ANGELES CHARGERS PREVIEW

The Chargers came out attacking the Raiders for the majority of the game. Their defense did their job to hold the offense to 19 points. Khalil Mack didn’t disappoint with 3 sacks and the defense intercepted Derek Carr three times to hold on for the win. Unfortunately, Keenan Allen hurt his hamstring and was out for the rest of the game and will be out for this matchup too. It’s also unclear if J.C. Jackson will be available. Everywhere else should be fine and the team should be ready for a potential shootout.
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS PREVIEW

Kansas City showed no mercy to Arizona. They may have let Glendale know that they’ll return in February. Patrick Mahomes threw for 360 yards and five touchdowns like it was another day in the office. Travis Kelce led the way with 121 reception yards but had plenty of pass catches following behind. Kansas City’s defense, led by Nick Bolton, played well after allowing 7 points through 3 quarters before allowing 14 scrap points in the 4th.
THE MATCHUP
This has the makings of one of the best games of the season. The assumption is the game will be high scoring, but the sportsbooks have the total on average around 54 points combined. It could be a chess match, or it could be the “in the trenches” type of game with creativity along with some aerial assault. The Chargers may be at a disadvantage because Keenan Allen is out for this game. Most importantly, J.C. Jackson is questionable, but his return would help the Chargers’ winning chances. The Chiefs showed why they are the Chiefs, but their defense will be tested against Herbert once again. Here’s a key fact: in the Chargers two matchup wins, Herbert avoided an interception. In the Chargers’ two losses, Herbert threw at least one interception. However, the Chiefs have a young coverage. L’Jarius Sneed picked off Herbert in one of their wins, but now he’s looked upon without Tyrann Mathieu’s leadership. The Chargers has just enough defense to contain the Chiefs at their house. Also, Los Angeles is 2-0 at Kansas City since Justin Herbert was drafted.
