NFC PLAYOFF STANDINGS

1) PACKERS
Aaron Rodgers had his issues with the receivers’ performance in practice. Eventually, they will all be on the same page. Christian Watson is off PUP, so there’s a chance we’ll see him play before the regular season. However, Romeo Doubs stood out for the receiving core this preseason. He’ll receive plenty of snaps this season, and he’s doing our Nevada Wolfpack proud!
2) SAINTS
Saints are catching my interest a little more as the weeks go on. Linebacker Jon Bostic was added on an already stout defense and standing out in the preseason. Chris Olave’s touchdown catch was pretty impressive and should make the receiving core the most interesting position on the team.
3) RAMS
The Matt Stafford’s injury is minor, so Rams fans shouldn’t worry. Outside of that, receiver Lance McCutcheon is receiving plenty of attention and could make the roster. Austin Trammell isn’t but he should because him and Lance are the two leading receivers for two weeks straight. Matt will have depth at receiver this season, but it’s best to keep Cooper Kupp healthy for a potential Super Bowl return.
4) EAGLES
Philly’s realization of the run game last season should punish any team that fails to stop them. What they may have is another receiver they should add to the depth chart. If anyone watched Devon Allen burn everyone for a touchdown catch, he’s worth a pick up whether it’s in Philly or elsewhere.
5) 49ERS
The Trey Lance debate could carry over into Week 1 of the regular season and beyond. I was impressed with his performance against Green Bay. He showed off his arm and legs, made good decisions and stayed poised before scrambling out. In Week 2 of preseason, I was wowed by a few plays made. Defensive backs continue to pick off opposing offenses and they’re more disciplined, leading to less penalties. Running back Jordan Mason impressed me with his tough run while Danny Gray forced a cornerback to collide with his own teammate just to complete a 2-point play. Despite Brock Purdy getting stopped in his tracks, his fake out against the defense was awesome!
6) BUCCANEERS
It has nothing to do with Tom Brady’s absence from the team. During the preseason, the receivers that stood out were Tyler Johnson, Jaelon Darden, Kaylon Geiger and Jerreth Sterns. However, there was a bit of an issue with the offensive line’s protection. What’s worse is that they lose another offensive line for the season in Aaron Stinnie. The Bucs’ line looks fragile and I already mentioned it being a subtle problem against the pass rush.
7) COWBOYS (TIED)
KaVontae Turpin (who needs to be nicknamed Turbo) stood out this past weekend. He scored a kickoff return and punt return, and his speed is as lethal as it was back at TCU. That’ll also give Tony Pollard more time on the field alongside Zeke Elliott.

AFC PLAYOFF STANDINGS

1) BILLS
Plenty of backs received carries during the first two preseason games. James Cook should compliment Devin Singletary amongst a running back depth. It’s also nice that they take some pressure off Josh Allen’s legs so he can just throw the ball.
2) RAVENS
The Ravens preseason streak seems to mean little to the majority since it’s preseason. To Ravens fans and players, it’s a big deal. With backups, third stringers, and beyond keeping this streak alive for this long, it only means that there is depth across the board. The coaching staff should be credited more for that.
3) COLTS
Sam Ehlinger continues to improve as a quarterback overall. He did well last season before the injury sidelined him in the last preseason game. He’s much better this preseason and made improvements as a pocket passer. Continue to keep an eye on him for the backup job someday.
4) CHARGERS
Receiver Michael Bandy received some attention in the first two preseason games. Josh Palmer didn’t have to play, but he made some plays including an 18-yard touchdown pass. It’s possible that Bandy makes the roster with how he’s performing so far. Special teams must be wary of their situation after allowing a kickoff and punt return touchdown to KaVontae Turpin and the Cowboys.
5) CHIEFS
Pat Mahomes will sling the rock to anyone. Not having Tyreek Hill opens up more options for everyone else and not just Travis Kelce being the main target. Can this defense move forward without Tyrann Mathieu? The leadership may go to Nick Bolton if it were me as coach. Also, rookie defensive end George Karlaftis is already making a name for himself. He might help the Chiefs improve their pass rush this season.
6) RAIDERS
The Raiders looked good with backups on offense. Jarrett Stidham was solid and Zamir White could see his role in the run and pass game, which makes life easier for Josh Jacobs. Their defensive line could finally see some overall progression.
7) BENGALS (TIED)
Daxton Hill came across the field to pick off a tipped pass against the Giants. Chris Evans is making stellar plays on kick returns in two preseason games. His first game was a 44-yard return and his second game was a 73-yard return. Linebacker Clay Johnston stood out with 26 total tackles through two preseason games. While Hill and Evans are good on the roster, Clay could find himself with Cincinnati since Joe Bachie is on the PUP list and Logan Wilson is dealing with an injury.
