VANDERBILT KICKER SARAH FULLER MAKES HISTORY

Vandy kicker Sarah Fuller became the first woman in FBS Men’s Division I history to kickoff on special teams. She was involved due to Vanderbilt’s other kickers being out with COVID/injury concerns. Unfortunately for coach Derek Mason, Vandy’s shutout loss to Missouri led to him getting the pink slip. But thanks to him reaching out to her soccer coach, he gave her the opportunity of a lifetime. 2020 couldn’t have been more interesting in sports but this is definitely one for the history books. Congratulations to her for breaking the barrier. She could be the first woman to complete a successful field goal kick if she gets the opportunity this weekend.
THE BIG TEN’S PLAYOFF CHANCES ARE AT HIGH RISK

Northwestern’s loss and Ohio State’s second cancelled game puts the conference itself at risk. With two games left, including the conference championship, Ohio State can’t miss anymore games. The Big Ten made it clear that a team must play at least six games to qualify for the conference championship or they are disqualified. If Ohio State misses one more, then Indiana replaces them. Ohio State would miss out while leading their division for the first time since 2011 when they had their one year bowl ban.
…WHILE THE PAC-12’S PLAYOFF CHANCES ARE LIKELY GONE

Oregon was upset by rival Oregon State for the first time since 2016. Oregon was also the highest ranked Pac-12 team. With that loss, there’s little to no chance a Pac-12 team will make the playoffs yet again unless USC and Washington finishes off their season undefeated with a whole lot of help and chaos in front of them. Not a great November for the west coast and the struggle for playoff consideration gets much harder.
CHANCES OF TWO SEC AND TWO ACC TEAMS IN PLAYOFFS COULD BECOME REALITY

The Playoff Committee as of now has three SEC and two ACC teams with Ohio State in the Top 6 and it’ll likely be them in January. Alabama and Florida most likely meets in the conference championship and Texas A&M is sitting on the bench at five waiting to see if Ohio State and Clemson lose, but they must hope Cincinnati doesn’t somehow jump over them. Clemson’s only way to the playoffs is through Notre Dame while Notre Dame’s guaranteed in even with a loss to the Tigers. However, keep an eye on Miami. They hung around the Top 12 for a good long time now.
CINCINNATI MUST GAIN MORE ATTENTION WHILE BYU LOSES MORE BY COMMITTEE

And that brings me to the Cats of the Non-Power 5. BYU gains no ground with one move up in the rankings at thirteen behind teams like both two-loss Oklahoma and Georgia. Beating the snot out of most of their opponents for style points and eye test isn’t enough to impress them…if they watched any of BYU’s games. Cincinnati chills at seven with quality wins against Army, SMU, and UCF. What I’m waiting for for the last THREE WHOLE MONTHS after two changes to the schedule is Cincinnati versus Tulsa. This was my trap game before the season, has been my trap game before October 17th and December 4th, and will hopefully be that very trap game when they play their season-finale on December 12th. This is the Bearcats’ only key for a miraculous playoff appearance for a Group of Five school in college football history.
