USF (4-7) at UCF– lost 34-7

  • USF ends their season at 4-8 with no way of responding to their in-state rival. It wasn’t a good season overall due to their lack of consistency in the run game and the injuries, especially to the quarterback position. Coach Charlie Strong was also fired after the season.

TULSA (3-8) at East Carolina– won 49-24

  • Tulsa ends their season on a strong note. It wasn’t their best, but the offense showed a lot more play this game and their defense played pretty decent too. There’s definitely potential on this roster, but maybe this season was too tough for them to handle with the offensive line still progressing. Next season might look brighter for the Hurricanes.

ACC: 1-1, OVERALL: 17-7ACC UNDERRATED

VIRGINIA (8-3) vs. #24 Virginia Tech– won 39-30

  • Virginia won their biggest game of the season and it was much needed. Not only did they retake the lead in that game, but their defense came up with a another score to end it. They end 15 seasons of losing against Virginia Tech and will now see themselves in the conference championship game for the first time in school history.

WAKE FOREST (8-3) at Syracuse– lost 39-30 OT

  • Wake Forest dueled with Syracuse for four quarters, including overtime. Wake Forest could’ve won this game for sure, but unfortunately receiver Kendall Hinton was pick-pocketed by defensive back Tyler Williams and ended that game with a game-winning touchdown in overtime. Wake Forest’s last six games was indeed tough. They started 5-1, and ended their regular season 3-3.

BIG TEN: 0-2, OVERALL: 19-5BIG TEN UNDERRATED

#13 MICHIGAN (9-2) at #1 Ohio State– lost 56-27

  • Michigan competed as best as they can, but Ohio State’s all-around better than Michigan. Their defense couldn’t stop anybody no matter how hard they tried. The offense got the ball moving, but it wasn’t enough to keep this team in. They did a good job preventing Chase Young from doing anymore damage, but the damage was already done by the time Ohio State scored 42 points.

#8 MINNESOTA (10-1) vs. #12 Wisconsin– lost 38-17

  • It seemed like Minnesota was out to prove their worth with their first touchdown. Wisconsin made a vicious response with 17 unanswered points and Minnesota was unable to stop them ever since. Running back Jonathan Taylor and quarterback Jack Coan had their way with the defense all game long. It was hard to watch and terrible to see the Gophers lose their Big Ten West title to them.

BIG 12: 1-1, OVERALL: 15-9BIG 12 UNDERRATED

#23 IOWA STATE (7-4) AT KANSAS STATE (7-4)– Kansas State won 27-17

  • In the Farmland of the US, both teams played well and physical for the majority of the game. But in the end, Kansas State wanted this game more than Iowa State. Kansas State wins eight games this season with a new head coach after questions swirled on whether this team could take a step back for a little while. Iowa State’s season didn’t fair as well after being considered for a conference title game at one point. Now they’re 0-3 against ranked teams and have failed to stay in the Top 25 three times already.

C-USA: 0-2, OVERALL: 10-14C-USA UNDERRATED

FIU (6-5) at Marshall– lost 30-27 OT

  • FIU played close with Marshall all game and did a great job stifling the pass game. However, they allowed 146 yards alone to running back Brenden Knox, including the game-winner in overtime. Despite the loss, they should be positive with a strong finish, including upsetting Miami (FL) last weekend. FIU started 1-3 to end the regular season with 5-3.

NORTH TEXAS (4-7) vs. UAB– lost 26-21

  • North Texas played a good game and were a quarter away from upsetting UAB and knock them out of a conference title game opportunity. But UAB came up with a pick six and survived to play another week of football. North Texas ends their season at 4-8 and failed to play up to similar standards like they did three seasons ago. The majority of it was due to a tough schedule and a weak defense. It forced coach Seth Littrell to fire his offensive and defensive coordinators.

INDEPENDENT: 0-1, OVERALL: 5-7INDEPENDENT UNDERRATED

ARMY (5-6) at Hawai’i– lost 52-31

  • Army loses another game to an improved team on their schedule. Seven losses more than likely eliminates Army from bowl-contention after appearing in three straight bowls. They have a week off before they play against Navy to cap off their season. They hope to go for their fourth-straight win over the Midshipmen, but this game will be much tougher than the last three since Navy bounced back this season.

MAC: 0-2, OVERALL: 14-10MAC UNDERRATED

MIAMI (OH) (7-4) vs. Ball State– lost 41-27

  • Miami (OH) had Ball State in peril in the first half before things went vice versa in the second half. Ball State scored four touchdowns and didn’t allow another point to Miami (OH). The Redhawks must prepare their offense better as they have Central Michigan to deal with in the conference title game. It’ll turn into a one-sided shootout if they’re unable to move the ball consistently.

WESTERN MICHIGAN (7-4) at Northern Illinois– lost 17-14

  • Western Michigan struggled the entire game against Northern Illinois’s defense and the constant freezing rain. It took them until the second half to get two touchdowns, but they couldn’t do more to come away with a win. Most of it was due to quarterback Jon Wassink struggling, so LeVante Bellamy had to put the team on his shoulders to stay alive. Central Michigan’s win eliminated Western Michigan from the MAC conference title game.

MWC: 1-1, OVERALL: 17-7MWC UNDERRATED

NEVADA (7-4) vs. UNLV– lost 33-30

  • The Wolfpack does the usual “trailing in the first half only to make a big run in the second half to tie the game” routine. They managed to force their first overtime of the season. Unfortunately, UNLV came away with a game-winning touchdown pass (that immediately turned into a fight. Look up on YouTube). Not only that, they lose out on getting the Fremont Cannon back. There’s always next year I suppose.

AIR FORCE (9-2) vs. Wyoming– won 20-6

  • Air Force caps off their season with their 10th win over Wyoming. Quarterback Donald Hammond III had another good game with 121 passing yards for a touchdown and rushing for another. Air Force made massive improvements last season and looks a lot better on offense with Hammond manning the helm.

PAC-12: 2-0, OVERALL: 17-7PAC-12 UNDERRATED

#14 OREGON (9-2) AT Oregon State– won 24-10

  • This Civil War Game was a slow-moving one for sure. Oregon won, but Oregon State’s defense made life difficult for them. Running back Travis Dye ran for 91 yards, but CJ Verdell was held to 50 on 15 carries. Quarterback Justin Herbert still threw for 174 and a touchdown in his last game in Autzen Stadium. Oregon State passed more but failed to come away with no more than 10 points that game. Oregon’s defense will be needed for this weekend against Utah as they face duo players Tyler Huntley and Zack Moss.

ARIZONA STATE (6-5) vs. Arizona – won 24-14

  • Arizona State wins their third straight rivalry game to maintain their Territorial Cup in Tempe. Running back Eno Benjamin and the defense (despite allowing 140 receiving yards and two touchdowns to Jamarye Joiner alone) made Arizona struggle to stop the run and throw three picks. Arizona State wins the last two games after previously losing four-straight.

SEC: 2-0, OVERALL: 15-9SEC UNDERRATED

MISSOURI (5-6) vs. Arkansas* (Little Rock, AR)– won 24-14

  • Missouri ends their 5-game losing streak with a win to finish 6-6, but that doesn’t save Barry Odom’s job as he was fired. They started 5-1 and were ranked at one point before their immediate decline. Whether they’re banned from bowl contention or not, when you fail to keep this team motivated after a hot start, what’s the point of keeping your job at all.

#15 AUBURN (8-3) vs. #5 Alabama– won 48-45

  • The whole game went back and forth with offense, defense, and special teams involved. No one expected both sides to score a lot points. No one expected Auburn to score a lot of points nor did they expect Alabama to allow a lot of points either. Fortunately, Auburn triumphed in the Iron Bowl thanks to Bama’s missed field goal and their defensive penalty that lost them out of playoff contention. Auburn coach Guz Malzahn ends the regular season 3-4 all-time against Alabama and joins Les Miles in beating Saban three times in his career.

SUN BELT: 1-1, OVERALL: 18-6SUN BELT UNDERRATED

ARKANSAS STATE (7-4) at South Alabama– lost 34-30

  • South Alabama upsets Arkansas State and won 2 out of the 3 meetings against them. Arkansas State allowed four passing touchdowns and allowed one South Alabama receiver (Jalen Tolbert) to catch all four of them. South Alabama is now surprisingly 2-0 this season when scoring 30-plus points.

#25 APPALACHIAN STATE (10-1) at Troy– won 48-13

  • Appalachian State rolls over Troy to end their regular season 11-1. They look for their first 12-win season in school history and become the first team in the Sun Belt to do it as they face Louisiana in a rematch. Louisiana has turned up their game against App State the past three meetings and held them to 17 points despite only scoring 7 the last game.
